It includes an overview of CT extended-reach operations, typical field applications, the properties of CT, its manufacture, surface equipment required for downhole deployment, as well as discussion about downhole CT tools. A significant portion of the course covers CT mechanical performance, including working limits, buckling, and fatigue. A discussion of CT drilling technology and hydraulics is also included.Fundamentals and Introduction to Hydraulic Workover Applications, ½-day ClassMonday, 23 March | 0800–1200Instructor: Ralph McDanielHydraulic workover (Snubbing) can do anything a rig can do and do it under pressure. It can operate on land, offshore, and in remote locations. Discussion will cover HWO equipment, job design, applications, rig ups, and production improvement methods. Highlights include a workover decision tree related to CT, HWO, and a workover rig. Subsea Well Interventions, ½-day ClassMonday, 23 March | 1300–1700Instructors: Experts from Statoil, FMC, and Helix Well OpsThis course is intended as an introductory technical course providing awareness-level information on the main aspects of current subsea well intervention technology, applications, and activities. The main focus is on specialized subsea well intervention technology and operations with wireline or coiled tubing. The course is primarily intended for personnel new to well intervention practices, subsea well operations, or both.7www.spe.org/go/RegCTWISpecial Events (as of 26 November)Keynote Luncheon: The Global Market for Wellbore Intervention ServicesTuesday, 24 March | 1200–1300Speaker: Richard Spears, Managing Director, Spears & AssociatesIn 2015, E&P companies will spend over $465 billion buying products and services from the oilfield’s equipment and service suppliers around the world. In 1999, a low point in the modern era, these same companies spent just $75 billion globally. With the global market for all things oilfield growing by 6x in a decade and a half, how does the well intervention sector compare? Richard Spears will present his firm’s evaluation of the coiled tubing services, wireline logging, and well servicing markets, along with a look at some of the technologies that enabled the rapid growth-completion equipment, directional drilling, and artificial lift markets.Speaker Biography: With an engineering degree from Oklahoma State University and graduate work in industrial engineering, Richard Spears has worked for 35 years in the upstream oil and gas industry, starting as a field engineer for Halliburton. Today, Spears is one of the managing directors of Spears & Associates, an oilfield market research firm. Richard has been with the firm since 1985 and leads its mergers and acquisitions support practice.Spears is a 30-year member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE 1141910) and was an SPE Distinguished Lecturer 2005–2006. He is also a 29-year member of the Association of Energy Service Companies. Spears is on the board of directors of several oilfield service companies.8Coiled Tubing & Well Intervention Conference & Exhibition 2015 Technical Program (as of 26 November)Tuesday, 24 March 0830–114501 Offshore and Subsea Well Intervention OperationsSession Chairpersons: Alastair Buchanan, Statoil David Larimore, HalliburtonThis session will highlight some of the methods, techniques, and tools used to address challenges in performing offshore, subsea, and deep water well interventions. These new and exciting methods and equipment developments are providing cost-effective means for well intervention in the growing number of offshore and subsea wells.02 Improving Operational EfficiencySession Chairpersons:Rex Burgos, Schlumberger Don McClatchie, SanjelThis session will present proven, successful approaches for improving operational efficiency that can be adopted in other operations, or in some cases, may lead to new technologies.Tuesday, 24 March 1345–170003 Well Intervention Applications ISession Chairpersons:Tom Keltner, Shell International E&P Alan Turner, Halliburton – Boots & CootsThis session is focused on applications, including P&A, using what are considered the heavier well intervention techniques (e.g. HWO). It also presents applications for remedial repair of a casing using a CT/slick line combination and introduces a surface technique that both improves safety and also reduces CT intervention time required. 04 CT Materials and IntegritySession Chairpersons:Alex Crabtree, Hess Corporation Simon Sparke, Tullow OilThe first part of this session will incorporate short presentations reviewing premature CT failures from three service providers. Industry specialists will then join the authors for a panel discussion on the subject. The second part of the session will look at new, developing CT materials to meet the industry requirement for stronger and more sour-resistant pipe. NDE of CT strings has become more common and the instrumentation continues to improve. This session will provide an opportunity to hear about these improvements.9www.spe.org/go/RegCTWITechnical Program (as of 26 November) Wednesday, 25 March 0830–114505 Electric, Slick, and Braided Wireline ApplicationsSession Chairpersons:Andrew Patterson, Consultant Scott Ingram, Baker HughesThis session will focus on how interventions can extend the life of existing wells. Speakers will present on real field problems, where the application of wireline, tractor, and slickline interventions delivered successful outcomes.06 CT ApplicationsSession Chairpersons:Jennifer Julian, BP Jason Skufca, ConocoPhillipsThis session covers different applications using new coiled tubing materials, bottomhole assembly development for new stimulation practices, and solutions to challenging production problems with unique fluids and placement techniques in harsh environments.Wednesday, 25 March 1345–170007 Well Intervention Applications IISession Chairpersons:Ricardo Quintero, Welltec Bob Fraser, Penn West ExplorationThis session will present applications using alternative technologies that challenge drilling, milling, and conventional operations; review the latest developments in equipment and tools; and detail last-generation software modeling that can assist in optimizing operations efficiency in horizontal wells. We will also cover the successes recorded in non-rig operations environment.08 Extended Reach ApplicationsSession Chairpersons:Joddie Carlile, Shell Scott Sherman, Trican Well ServiceAs lateral lengths increase, interventions require more planning and refinement to address the challenges associated with spanning those lengths. This session will highlight some unique challenges, along with methods and equipment developed to address these challenges. For a more robust look at the technical program, visit www.spe.org/go/TechProgCTWI10Coiled Tubing & Well Intervention Conference & Exhibition 2015Registration TypeAll registration fees are in US Dollars (USD).By 3 March After 3 MarchFull Registration*SPE/ICoTA Member 450 600Nonmember 600 700Presenting Author 350 350Student (with valid college ID)** 75 75Spouse 60 601-Day Option (Tuesday or Wednesday)1-Day, SPE/ICoTA member 350 3501-Day, Nonmember 450 450Training Courses (Monday) Member Nonmember1-Day: Coiled Tubing and Its Applications 750 9501/2-Day: Subsea Well Interventions 350 5501/2-Day: Tractor Technologies for Well Interventions350 550Ticketed ItemsTuesday Keynote Luncheon 55 55Additional SPE/ICoTA Member Proceedings 65 65Additional Nonmember Proceedings 85 85Full registration includes opening reception, technical sessions, exhibition, coffee breaks, expo reception, and one copy of the Proceedings.
