The SAB evaluates abstract submis-sions, recommends invited papers and presenters, advises with regard to session topics, and serves as conference ambassadors. The SAB is crucial to the conference development. Care is taken to create a board that represents philosophical, scientific, regulatory, and geographical balance.Past Sponsors and Supporters include:FOR FURTHER INFORMATION regarding the conference, submitting an abstract, exhibiting or sponsoring, please see our website (www.aehsfoundation.org) or contact Brenna LockwoodAEHS Foundation150 Fearing Street, Suite 21, Amherst, MA 01002Tel: 413-549-5170 • Fax: 413-549-0579 email: brenna@aehsfoundation.orgThe Association for Environmental Health and Sciences Foundation, Inc. Webb and Ernest E. LoryPlatform PresentationConcern over Methyl-tertiary-Butyl Ether (MTBE)-polluted aquifers has increased as the number of contaminated plumes increases, and as evidence accumulates suggesting that MTBE has adverse effects on human health. The Department of Defense National Environmental Technology Test Site (D/NETTS), located on the Naval Construction Battalion Center, Port Hueneme, California, empha-sizes advanced fuel hydrocarbon remediation in soil and ground water. Its mission is to develop and maintain research and development platforms for testing, evaluation, and validation of promising environmental cleanup and monitoring technologies. As part of the D/NETTS program an MTBE plume is being used as a test platform to evaluate in-situ remediation technologies including monitored natural attenuation, oxygen and air injection, and microbial injection.A comparison of in-situ MTBE biodegradation will be presented with regard to natural attenuation, enhanced natural attenuation and injected microbial cultures. Using these case studies, a decision assisting process will be presented on appli-cability of these various processes to different types of sites.Sonya M.
