It combines lactic and acetic acid strains at a guaranteed rate of 1.2 million cfu per g of forage. The strains work together allowing a rapid lactic acid fermentation followed by conversion of some lactic acid into acetic acid. Forages treated with this product will have improved stability compared to standard lactic acid products. Advance+ can therefore be used in forages of all levels of dry matter plus in a wider range of crops including grass, wholecrop and maize. All three Advance+ strains are approved by the EU, the data from these trials and additional trials is outlined below. pH Reduction Trials Untreated Treated % Difference Reduction in pH 4.5 pH 4.0 pH -11% Reduction in spoilage yeasts 1,300,000 cfu//g 225,000 cfu//g -83% Less heating - time to reach 20° Celsius 175 hours 230 hours +31% 6.5 6.0 5.5 5.0 4.5 4.0 3.5 0 30 60 90 120 150 pH days grass silage Untreated Treated provides 1 million cfu of lactic acid bacteria per g of forage. It gives a normal lactic acid fermentation and is suitable for grass silage where there is little risk of secondary fermentation.
