Activate the primerbulb by pressing it and allowing it to return toits original position.THROTTLE TRIGGERThe THROTTLE TRIGGER controls enginespeed. Squeeze the trigger for full speed opera-tion; release it for idle speed.WARNING: Muffler is very hot duringand after use. Do not touch the muffler or al-low combustiblematerial such as dry grass orfuel to do so.BEFORE STARTING ENGINEWARNING: Be sure to read the fuelinformation in the safety rules before you be-gin. If you do not understand the safety rules,do not attempt to fuel your unit. Call1-800-554-6723.FUELING ENGINEWARNING: Remove fuel cap slowlywhen refueling.HELPFUL TIPToobtain the correct oil mixratio, pour 3.2 ounces of2--cycle synthetic oil intoone gallon of fresh gas. This engine is certified tooperate onunleadedgasoline. Before operation, gasoline must bemixed with a good quality synthetic 2-cycle air-cooled engine oil designed to bemixed at a ratioof 40:1. Poulan/WEED EATER brand syntheticoil is recommended. A 40:1 ratio is obtainedby mixing 3.2 fluid ounces (95ml) of oil with 1gallon (4 liters) of unleaded gasoline). DONOT USE automotive oil or boat oil. Theseoils will cause engine damage. When mixingfuel, follow instructions printed on oil contain-er. Once oil is added to gasoline, shake con-tainer momentarily to assure that the fuel isthoroughly mixed. Always read and follow thesafety rules listed under HANDLE FUELWITH CAUTION.CAUTION: Never use straight gasoline inyour unit. This will cause permanent enginedamage and void the limited warranty.FUEL REQUIREMENTSThis engine requires the use of minimum 87octane [R+M]/2 clean gasoline.IMPORTANTUse of alcohol blended fuels (called gasohol orusing ethanol ormethanol) can causemajor en-gine performance and durability problems.WARNING: Alternative fuels (not gas-oline) such as E--15 (15% alcohol), E--20 (20%alcohol),E--85 (85%alcohol) areNOTclassifiedas gasoline and are NOT approved for use in2--stroke gasoline engines. Use of alternativefuels will cause problems such as: improperclutch engagements, overheating, vapor lock, power loss, lubrication deficiency, deteriorationof fuel lines, gaskets and internal carburetorcomponents, etc. Alternative fuels cause highmoisture absorption into the fuel/oil mixtureleading to oil and fuel separation.OPERATING INSTRUCTIONSIt is recommended that the engine not beoperated for longer than 30 secondsat fullthrottle. Releasing the trigger and allowingthe engine to briefly return to idle speed (5 --10 seconds) will be sufficient.-- 5 --IMPORTANT POINTSS Use theminimum throttle speed necessaryto effectively cut hedges for optimal hedgetrimmer performance.S Never attempt to use this hedge trimmer tocut hedges that have any branches with adiameter larger than 7/16?.OPERATING POSITIONEyeProtectionHearingProtectionSTOPPING YOUR ENGINED To stop the engine, move the ON/OFFswitch to the OFF position.STARTING YOUR ENGINED Fuel engine.
