Nona Strada 55/57 35129 Padova Italia MEGALON CEREALS Ready-for-use rodenticidal cereal mix based on bromadiolone Public Health Product – Italian MOH registration no. 18619 Composition, 100 g product contain: pure Bromadiolone g 0.005 Denatonium Benzoate g 0.001 Cereals, flavourings, preservatives up to g 100 BROMADIOLONE family hydroxycoumarin derivative Mode of action By ingestion Activity Inhibits vitamin K1 and alters blood coagulation factors Species to control Rattus rattus, Rattus Norvegicus, Mus Musculus, field rats DENATONIUM BENZOATE, chemical name Benzyldiethy[(2,6-xylycarbomyl)methyl]ammonium benzoate Mode of action By ingestion Activity Makes substances extremely bitter Species that do not detect its presence up to 0.001 g per 100 g bait Rattus rattus, Rattus Norvegicus, Mus Musculus etc. Formulation In MEGALON CEREALS bromadiolone is formulated as a mix of various cereals. The baits contain denatonium benzoate, which makes them extremely bitter hence discouraging ingestion by children and pets. The specific characteristic of denatonium benzoate is that it is not detected by the palate of rodents at concentrations like the one in MEGALON CEREALS. Species that can be controlled MEGALON CEREALS is accepted and consumed by all infesting rodents: rattus norvegicus, rattus rattus, mus musculus etc. Properties Bromadiolone belongs to second generation indirect anticoagulants and is marked by high toxicity for rodents, similarly to Brodifacoum. Its toxicity is effective irrespective of the duration of the bait consumption. According to literature, between 90% and 100% of rats fed for 1, 2 or 4 days with baits containing 0.005% bromadiolone die. Moreover, they die irrespective of the amount of bromadiolone ingested. Technical Data Sheet I.N.D.I.A. INDUSTRIE CHIMICHE S.p.A. Nona Strada 55/57 35129 Padova Italia One more peculiarity of bromadiolone is that it is normally well accepted by rodents’ palate. In a few bait types it is the best accepted rodenticidal ingredient. This means that it is not perceived by rodents. Bromadiolone irreversibly poisons also rats and mice that have developed resistance to warfarin. Usage rates and directions for use Place 30-60 grams of baits close to or, if possible, inside places infested by rodents, along their tracks, along walls, in corners –never in the middle of premises – away from rain. In premises with beams and in attics, place the baits in high corners too, between the beams and the ceiling. To minimise the risk of accidental swallowing by non-target animals, baits must be placed inside appropriate bait boxes, properly fastened and allowing access to target animals only. Check MEGALON CEREALS every 2-3 days and replenish or renew them if they have been eaten (usually in 4-6 days). During treatment the area must be clearly marked. Any dead rodents must be removed by the treated are at frequent intervals and they must be properly disposed of. At the end of treatment the remaining baits must be destroyed or disposed of in a safe way. Active ingredient toxicity Bromadiolone is highly toxic to rodents whereas it is moderately toxic to a few other mammals: LD50 acute oral male rat 1.25 mg/kg LD50 acute oral male mouse 1.75 mg/kg LD50 acute oral dog >10 mg/kg LD50 acute oral cat >25 mg/kg Warning For the proper use of this product, follow the instructions given on the product label.
