Seed Hawk Inc was established in 1992 to develop low-disturbance precision seeding systems. They operate from their recently expanded 100,000 square foot facility located approximately two miles north of Langbank, SK. Pat Beaujot, now the President of Seed Hawk, is a professional agronomist with a passion for sustainable farming practices who saw that there was little equipment available on the market to meet the demands of innovative farming techniques. With the purchase of the family farm in 1986, and after several prototypes, Seed Hawk began production on a very small scale in 1992, selling six units in their first year. Around the same time, Canadian prairie farmers began rapidly adopting direct seeding practices as sustainable farming practices gained popularity.

History

Spring 1992

Unable to find a tool that will shallow seed, place fertilizer with exceptional accuracy and pack evenly in a single pass, the Seed Hawk seeder prototype is built by professional agronomist Pat Beaujot and his brother, along with colleagues Brian Kent and Brian Dean. In a shop, near the Beaujot’s family farm in Langbank, Saskatchewan they set the bar for innovation high, and right from the first season, yield results are significant.

Seed Hawk Inc. is formed, paying tribute to the hawks that follow the seeder looking for mice.

2007

Seed Hawk introduces the 84-foot toolbar. When combined with the 800-bushel air tank, it is the largest seeding system in the world, at the time. That same year, Seed Hawk features its 30 Series Seeder at AgriTechnica in Germany, the world’s largest trade fair for agricultural machinery and equipment.

2011

Seed Hawk adds to its production capacity to meet rising domestic and global demand for its products. Phase II of the expansion adds another 55,000 square feet to the manufacturing facility. The $7.5 million expansion triples the existing manufacturing capacity by adding space efficiencies and new manufacturing technology.

2013

Väderstad acquires 100% ownership of Seed Hawk. Peter Clarke, the general manager is an integral part of the company’s growth, becoming President and CEO. Pat Beaujot and Brian Dean stay on as board members and continue to work in strategic product and market development. The deal opens doors for both companies, bringing Väderstad closer to the lucrative North American market while offering Seed Hawk technology to a global audience.
