Sciences & Animals Paris Saclay (SAPS)Sciences & Animals Paris Saclay (SAPS): a network in research, education and training, and innovation in the Animal Sciences supporting agriculture and health. To develop innovative multidisciplinary research, create new partnerships between public and private sectors, and enlarge our training offer, the actors in animal science research (geneticists, biostaticians, physiologists, pathologists, microbiologists, virologists, immunologists, etc) have joined together in the Sciences & Animals Paris Saclay Institute (SAPS). Currently, SAPS links seven research units in the southern Ile-de-France region including INRA, AgroParisTech, ENVA and ANSES in addition to three experimental units. SAPS is intended to extend to other units wishing to associate themselves with it. We have over 580 research personnel and as a member of the Paris-Saclay campus, our institute forms a major pole in Animal Sciences on both the national and international levels. Our objective is to promote research, education and innovation in order to improve our knowledge in Animal Biology. One of our ambitions is to contribute to the sustainability of farming systems, in a changing economy, environment and society, and to make progress in biomedicine. Fully integrated in the transfer and innovation strategies, we rely on a diverse network of partners working in the animal production sectors and the biomedical field. Characterizing, understanding and predicting adaptive responses of animals to environmental variations are one of our main objectives. The four major axes shaping our scientific approach are the following: • Building of phenotypes: role of the pre and perinatal environments.• Selection on tomorrow’s farms: Exploring the combinatorial dimension of the genomes’polymorphism and epigenetic markers.• New strategies for health in farming: Improving immune competencies, new vaccines and newdiagnostic methods.• Prediction of phenotypes and adaptive responses: Multi-scale integration of data and modeling of theanimal biosystem.Tools _______________________________________________________________________________________ We have a network of open core facilities and expertise: experimentation on model and farm animals, animal biotechnology, biological resources center, genomics, microgenomics, metagenomics, proteomics, imaging, bioinformatics, and computational biology.
