Our webs are also more and moreused in other branches, such as fishing and industry. We consider it our duty to constantly look fornew production techniques and possibilities forthe applications of our products. In this catalogue you can find almost everyavailable option for sieve webs, driving wheels, support rollers and accessories. Of course wekeep an open mind towards new developments. This may result in this catalogue not being completelyup-to-date, even shortly after being released. We have tried to make this catalogue as userfriendly as possible and we hope you will use itoften and with pleasure.:For further information please contact:Hessels ZeefbandenHalteweg 10NL - 9677 RH Heiligerleetel: +31 (0)597 43 13 63fax: +31 (0)597 43 13 42email: sales@hesselszeefbanden.nlinternet: www.hesselszeefbanden.nl 5A modern company situated in thenorth of the Netherlands. You can easily find us by taking themotorway A7 (Groningen –Oldenburg), taking exit Heiligerlee(Nr. 46). 6In the world of sieve webs the options are almost infinite. In order to clearly specify a web, Hessels uses a standard code, which you will find in offers, order confirmations and invoices. On this page we explain how the definition of a sieve web ismade. This only applies to standard sieve webs. All specialities willbe mentioned separately below. Specialities are for instance: rodcoverings, cranked rods, flights, centre belt attachments andstone traps.Unless stated otherwise, a standard sieve web will be equippedwith rods of spring steel, Class C. If this is not the case, the rodswill be mentioned as a speciality. All dimensions will be written in mm only. On a quotation we willalso note the number of rods between brackets ( ), as an extracheck for yourself.BandcodeA– length in mmB – width in mmC – number of traction beltsD– type of traction beltsE – width of traction beltsF – rod diameterG– joining method 7Our webs are constructedwith rubber traction belts. These traction belts areavailable in different typesand sizes, thus allowing us tocreate a wide range of typesof sieve webs. On the nextpages you can find a descrip-tion of the different types. Our traction belts are alwaysof the quality EP1000/3. Thismeans that they have 3layers, consisting of polyesterfibres in the length and nylonfibres in the warp. The breaking strength is1000kg. per cm belt width. The rubber belts out of whichwe cut our traction belts aredesigned and producedspecially to meet ourdemands. The rubber of thesebelts is of a wear andweather resistant quality. This makes our webs verysuitable for applications inharvesters and washinginstallations for vegetablesand fruit. The hardness of the rubber is± 65° shore A.Because we profile and cutour traction belts in our ownfactory, we can be flexiblewith regards, to the standardpitches and widths.Belts 8Belts traction belt width in mm B Material M Rubber RType B M DescriptionS20 60 R Low camS28 50 60 75 R Low camS32 50 60 75 R Low camS33 60 R Low camS35 60 R Low camS36 50 60 75 R Low camS37 60 R Low camS40 50 60 75 R Low camS42 50 60 75 R Low camS43 60 R Low camS44 60 R Low camS45 60 75 R Low camS50 50 60 75 R Low camS55 50 60 R Low camS60 50 60 R Low camDS28 60 R Low cam with protection camsDS32 60 R Low cam with protection camsDS36 60 75 R Low cam with protection camsDS40 60 75 R Low cam with protection camsDS42 60 R Low cam with protection camsDS45 60 75 R Low cam with protection camsDS50 60 75 R Low cam with protection camsN28 50 60 75 R High camN30 50 R High camN35 60 75 R High camN40 50 60 75 120 150 R High camN43 60 75 R High camN44 60 R High camN50 60 75 R High camDN28 50 60 75 R High cam with protection camsDN35 60 75 R High cam with protection camsDN40 60 75 R High cam with protection camsDN43 60 75 R High cam with protection camsDN44 60 R High cam with protection camsDN50 60 75 R High cam with protection camsHN40 60 R Extra high camHN50 60 75 R Extra high camHN55 60 R Extra high camHN60 50 60 R Extra high camHN64 60 75 R Extra high camHN70 50 R Extra high camDHN50 60 75 R Extra high cam with protection camsDHN55 60 R Extra high cam with protection camsDHN60 60 75 R Extra high cam with protection camsDHN64 60 R Extra high cam with protection camsDHN80 60 R Extra high cam with protection cams 9Types of traction beltType SThese traction belts are availablein most pitches. Sieve webs withthese belts can be driven withsprockets types S, M, G, Z, RR(pages 30, 32, 35 and 38).Type NWebs with these belts can bedriven by sprockets types N andG (page 35)Type HNThis type resembles type N, butthe cams are 3mm higher.Type DSThese belts have the sameproperties as the belts type S,but with extra rubber protectioncams on the top side. The flatte-nings of the rods lie between2 rubber cams, so the product tobe sieved will not be damagedby the rivet heads. Anotheradvantage is that the rods donot touch the rollers on thereturn side. This prevents wearon the rollers and the rods andallows the web to run moresmooth with lesser noise.Type DNThese belts have the same pro-perties as type N, but have thesame protection cams as type DS.Type DHNThese belts have the same pro-perties as type HN, but have thesame protection cams as type DS.Type SType DNType DOType NType HNType DSType DHN 10The traction belts of type XN andDXN are of the extra strong qualityEP1250/3.These belts have also 3 layers, butthey have a totol breaking strengthof 1250Kg. per cm belt width.Traction belts XN and DXN Width of traction belt in mm B Material M Rubber RType B M DescriptionXN50 60 R Extra high camXN60 60 R Extra high camDXN50 60 75 R Extra high cam with protection camsDXN60 75 R Extra high cam with protection camsDXN70 60 75 R Extra high cam with protection camsType XN Type DXN 11RodsStandard our webs are equippedwith rods of spring steel class C(DIN 17228). However we can alsomount rods of hardened Boronsteel, stainless steel or glass fibrereinforced polyester. After consulta-tion with you, we can also useother materials so that the produ-ced web will meet your expectati-ons as good as possible.Without using rod coverings we cancreate gaps with a minimum of5mm. By using rod coverings wecan reduce the gaps to 2mm. 12StokmaatIn determining the correct widthof the sieve web, it is importantthat the rods have the correct“stokmaat”. This is the distancebetween the two outside rivetholes, C.T.C. When orderingloose rivet rods it is importantthat you mention the stokmaatas well as the distance betweenthe holes in one end. Withoutfurther notice, we assume thisdistance to be 20mm in 50mmwide traction belts and 32mm in60 or 75mm wide traction belts. On request we can also makethese distances 24 or 30mm.Standard rivet rods are availablein diameters 6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13and 15mm.To increase the conveying capa-city of a sieve web, we can equipwebs with cranked rods. Thesecranks are available in varioushights, both up and down. (Anoften used construction is 2down cranked rods, followed by1 straight rod.)To protect the product fromdamaging or to minimise thegap, rods can be covered. Moreinformation about this on page20. 13Kinds of steelFor use in rough circumstances, for instance in stone separators,we can make the rods out ofstronger materials. Here we usespecial steel (spring steel, classsuper C) or hardened Boronsteel.Special steel is harder andtougher than spring steel class C.Further it has all the propertiesof regular spring steel. Specialsteel is available in the diameters10, 11 and 12mm.Hardened boron steel is evenharden and tougher than specialsteel. An advantage of boronsteel is that it can be welded. After welding, the material mustbe hardened, which makes itimpossible to weld on an existingweb. Boron steel is availablein the diameters 10, 11, 12 and13mm.Stainless steel is often used inwater. All metals used in thesieve web are then of stainlesssteel. It is not possible to make acentre flattening in a stainlesssteel rod. If a centre belt isrequired, attachment onto thebelt will be made with centreclips. To save weight we can use rodsout of glass fibre reinforcedpolyester. The glass fibres pro-vide great tensile strength. Asieve web with these rods canweigh up to 50% less than aweb with steel rods. Anotheradvantage is that these rodsdon’t rust.Polyester rods are available inthe diameters 6, 8 and 10mm. 14Twin rodsFor the processing of small pro-ducts, such as flower bulbs, we pro-duce webs with “twin rods”. A twinrod consists of 2 rods, which areclamped together at their ends, bya tube. The actual pitch is half ofthe belt pitch. With the use of rodcoverings we can create a gap assmall as 2mm.Twin rods are also standard con-structed with spring steel rods, though stainless steel or polyesterrods are also available.Square meshesFor oblong products, such as carrots,we produce sieve webs withsquare pitches. The rods of thesewebs are made from Boron steel, onto which pins are welded, givingthe web square or rectangulargaps. 15Vulcanised rodsTo protect the product from dama-ge, we can vulcanise a soft rubberlayer onto the rods. This rubber hasa hardness of 30-35° shore. Becausethe rod is vulcanised over the totallength, including the flattenings, this offers optimal protection. With these rods, the centre belt isattached with OGP.Because of the fact that every rodhas to be vulcanised in a mould, these rods are not available in everywidth.Types of vulcanised rods Material M rubber RType B DescriptionG10 R Vulcanised rodC10 R C-profileE30 R Hedgehog StandardP30 R Hedgehog FlatR30 R Hedgehog RoundV10 R Hedgehog V-profile 16Hedgehog rodsHedgehog webs are often usedfor cleaning the product and theremoval of haulm remnants. Wecan supply hedgehog webs with4 different types of rods:E30 (Standard)This is an arched steel profile,30mm wide, on which 2 rows ofrubber fingers are vulcanised. These fingers are 28mm highand are placed C.T.C. 20mm fromeach other. These rods are usu-ally attached to 60mm wide trac-tion belts, pitch 40mm. The rods are attached with bolts andwelding nuts M6. E30 rods arevery stable, therefore allowingfor a relatively wide web withoutusing a centre belt.P30 (Flat)This is a flat steel profile,4x30mm, on which 2 rows ofrubber fingers are vulcanised. These fingers are 30mm highand are also placed C.T.C. 20mmfrom each other. Compared tothe standard profile these fingersare much thicker and morestable. P30 rods are riveted tothe traction belts.V10 (V-profile)This is a ø10mm rod, on whichthe 2 rows of rubber fingers arevulcanised in a V shape. Thesefingers are app. 25mm high andare asymmetrically placed, also20mm from each other. A V-pro-file hedgehog web has theadvantage of having sieve capa-city. This profile is not available in every width.Q8H (Cocks comb profile)This is a square (8x8mm) springsteel rod, with a rubber cockscomb tube. This profile does notgo over the outside tractionbelts.R30 (Round)This hedgehog rod has the looksof a P30 profile, but the flat rodis replaced by a normal roundrivet rod. The advantage is thatthe rod is much more stable. Not all widths are available. 17“E30” (standard)“P30” (flat)“V10” (V-profile)“R30” (round) 18Centre belt attachmentSpring steel rods can be attached to a centre belt in 3 differentways:OGP (rods ø 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 15mm)The rod will be pushed up before flattening. This thickens thematerial here, so the flattening does not become a weak spot.Centre clips (rods ø 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13mm)A centre clip will be slid over the rod. This centre clip will then beriveted to the belt, in order that it is held tightly around the rod.To prevent the centre belt from moving sideways, a rod will beslightly flattened en either side of the clip, at intervals of app.30cm.Clamp clips (rods from ø 8mm upwards with star PVC)A clamp clip will be riveted to the centre belt first. A covered rodwill then be placed inside this clip, after which the clip will besqueezed.OGPCentre clipClamp clip 19Assembling of rodsThe rods can be riveted to the beltsin different ways. Usually they areriveted with 2 rivets per tractionbelt. To avoid damaging the product andto prevent the rods from comingloose when the rivet heads wearoff, the holes in the rods are madepartly conical. This allows the rivetheads on the rods to be almostsmoothed away.Rods with a diameter up to 10mmare riveted with 5mm rivets. Forrods ø11mm and up we use 6mmrivets.The attachment of overlap jointsare fixed with hexagon socket boltswith countersunk heads, which gothrough the upper side of the rods,in combination with threadedplates on the bottom side of thebelts. 20Rod coveringTypes of rod coveringSplit-PESplit-PE is a hard polyethylene tube, split over its entire length.Because of the hardness of split-PE, it cannot be used as protec-tion against damaging. Split-PE is only used to reduce thegap between the rods. The biggest advantage of split-PE isthat it can be mounted or removed at any time.Soft PVCThis is a soft PVC covering for ø6mm rods.Star-PVCTo protect the product from damaging we can cover the rodswith soft star-PVC. This is a soft PVC tube that is profiled onthe inside. It is available in many sizes. Because of the fact thatthis tube can practically always be used and offers good resultsat a reasonably low price, one can find a sieve web with star-PVC in almost every potato harvester.ACTACT is a PVC air chambertube for round bars and isavailable in 2 sizes only. Theair chambers make ACT a verysoft covering.8x8 SpecialThis is a PVC air chamber tubefor square rods 8x8mm.Because this tube is muchthinner than ACT, a sieve webwith 8x8 Special has muchmore sieving capacity than asieve web with ACT. 21Rod coverings material M rubber R polyethylene PE pvc PVCType dimensions M DescriptionSplit-PE 6 x 9 PE Split-PESplit-PE 8 x 12 PE Split-PESplit-PE 9 x 12 PE Split-PESplit-PE 10 x 14 PE Split-PESplit-PE 10 x 16 PE Split-PESplit-PE 11 x 16 PE Split-PESplit-PE 12 x 16 PE Split-PESplit-PE 14 x 18 PE Split-PESplit-PE 16 x 20 PE Split-PESplit-PE 20 x 25 PE Split-PEZacht-PVC 6,5 x 9 PVC Soft PVCZacht-PVC 6,5 x 11 PVC Soft PVCSter-PVC 7,5 x 14 PVC Star-PVCSter-PVC 8,5 x 15 PVC Star-PVCSter-PVC 9,5 x 16 PVC Star-PVCSter-PVC 9,5 x 18 PVC Star-PVCSter-PVC 10,5 x 16 PVC Star-PVCSter-PVC 10,5 x 18 PVC Star-PVCSter-PVC 10,5 x 20 PVC Star-PVCSter-PVC 11,5 x 18 PVC Star-PVCSter-PVC 11,5 x 21 PVC Star-PVCSter-PVC 12 x 25 PVC Star-PVCSter-PVC 13 x 19 PVC Star-PVCSter-PVC 15 x 21 PVC Star-PVC ACT 11 x 24 PVC ACTACT 15 x 27 PVC ACTV8S 8 x 8 R 8 x 8 special 22Split-PESoft-PVCStar-PVC ACT8 x 8 special 23FlightsFlightsTo transport the product at steepangles we have rubber flights (RM)in various heights. Most rubberrollers have a cast iron core.To simplify the mounting wehave several rollers in a splittableversion. To save weight and for use inwet conditions we have somerubber rollers with a nylon core. The flanges of these rollers arealso out of nylon.RR180ZDRR140FN 38Dimensions RR Material M Rubber R Minimal bore A min Maximum bore B max Diameter of flange F Type F A min B max M DescriptionRR80F 110 25 40 R RollerRR90F 130 25 45 R RollerRR100F 140 25 55 R RollerRR100Z 25 55 R RollerRR110F 150 25 55 R RollerRR120FD 140 25 40 R RollerRR130F 170 25 60 R RollerRR140F 170 25 70 R RollerRR140FD 170 30 50 R RollerRR140FN 170 25 60 R RollerRR140Z 25 70 R RollerRR140ZD 30 50 R RollerRR140ZN 25 60 R RollerRR160F 190 25 50 R RollerRR180F 220 25 60 R RollerRR180FD 220 25 60 R RollerRR180FN 220 25 70 R RollerRR180Z 25 55 R RollerRR180ZD 25 60 R RollerRR180ZN 25 70 R RollerRR200F 240 25 55 R RollerRR240F 300 25 65 R RollerRR240Z 156 25 60 R Roller 39Besides our standard universal drivewheels we can also supply drivewheels to specific brands, forinstance Grimme or Miedema.Dimensions specific Material M Nodular cast iron GS Cast iron GY Steel SType M DescriptionGrimmeHL(S)750/35 GS H00600058HL(S)750/35 GS H00600059MiedemaMAK.Grond28 SMAK.Grond32 SMAK.Grond36 SMAK.Zeef28 SMAK.Zeef32 SMAK.Zeef36 SwisentWAW.rooiband_SR GYWAW.loofband_SR GYMAK.Zeef32 40RollersOn the next pages you canfind different support andreturn rollers. We have awide range of rollers, so theright roller can be found forany situation. The diameterof the length of the race arevery important. Unless other-wisestated the races of ourrollers have a length of60mm. We will gladly adviseyou about the possibilities. All rollers are manufacturedwith 2 sealed bearings and anaxle with or without thread(AM) or a hollow axle (BD).Of course we can also supplyrollers with only the bearings. To make mounting easier, wegenerally supply the rollerswith a threaded axle with ahexagonal hole (6K). Otherpossibilities are a saw cut(ZS), flat surface (VB) or a flatpiece (VK) on the shoulder. As an option many rollers areavailable with a hollow axle, type BN. This axle is shorterthan the hollow axle type BD.With the hollow axle type BNthe bolt head is positionedwithin the roller. After fittingthe roller will be closed bymeans of a nylon cap. 41RR90F.BDDimensions RR Material M Rubber R Flange diameter F Equiped with U...
