Summer Grain Bag Bulletin
For those who are storing last year’s grain through the summer months:
- Inspect regularly - at least weekly. Especially look on the top of each bag.
- Look for wildlife/bird damage.
- Look for hail damage.
- Patch any visible holes, even small ones.
- Look over the bag after storms.
- Don’t overlook the details:
- Place bags far away from tree lines. Don’t give wildlife any cover near your bags.
- Routinely inspect and maintain. If you see a hole, patch it.
- Consider professional pest management.
- Orient bags north to south to more evenly spread heat; avoid east to west.
- Consider electrifi ed fencing for some locations.
