Ameresco Inc., a US renewable energy business (NYSE:AMRC), announced on Wednesday that it has finished a 26.3 MWdc solar project in the US state of Illinois hamlet of DePue, resulting in the creation of the largest solar farm in Bureau County.

In its first year of operation, the 65,832 solar photovoltaic panels that make up the DePue facility are anticipated to generate 37 GWh of electricity. According to Ameresco, this accomplishment will help Illinois meet its target of 25% renewable energy by 2025.

The solar farm was designed and constructed by the business on a brownfield site. Throughout the facility`s existence, Ameresco, the plant`s owner and operator, will continue to offer maintenance and support services.

Ameresco continued, "The project will benefit the DePue community by increasing property tax revenues for the county and saving yearly energy costs."
