Increase efficiencies in wine production with Eaton at SIMEI 2015

Oct. 14, 2015

The Filtration Division of power management company Eaton is showing an extensive range of filtration products at the SIMEI trade show in Milan, Italy, from November 3 to 6 (stand R30, hall 11). Visitors to the stand can meet Eaton’s experts to learn more about how to increase efficiencies throughout the wine production process while helping wine retain its color and taste.

One of the highlights is the mineral-free BECOPAD® depth filter medium. In addition to the flat sheet, the BECODISC® stacked disc cartridge and BECO PROTECT® CS CellStream depth filter cartridge are available. Each is designed to increase winemakers productivity with high-performance and more efficient filtration systems.

The compact and closed design of the stacked disc cartridge provides a large filter area in a small space and allows easy handling, as well as easy sterilization and cleaning. Available in all clarifying sharpness levels of BECOPAD filter material, the stacked disc cartridges can be flexibly adapted to different process parameters.

The BECO PROTECT CS CellStream depth filter cartridge is a fine filter that provides optimal protection for downstream membrane filter cartridges, as it is excellent at reducing fine colloids and microorganisms. Their unique wrapping maximizes the filter area while increasing the mechanical and thermal stability. As such, more than 50 steam cycles are possible, and it provides a long, reliable service life enabling wine producers to save associated costs.

Also on display are Eaton’s BECO® LiquiControl2 testing unit, which helps wine manufacturers determine the precise filterability of wine. From looking at the test results, the winemaker can adjust their downstream filtration process to achieve increased efficiency of filter media and higher profits. The user has the choice of a testing method via membranes, e.g., 0.45 µm, for direct bottling or via depth filter sheets, e.g., BECOPAD 220 depth filter sheet, for pre-filtration.

Visitors to the fair also have the opportunity to learn about Eaton’s new vegan fining agent. The SIHA® pea protein is perfect for the fining and clarification of wines because of its excellent clarification and stabilizing properties. The company will also be highlighting its SIHA® PROFERM™ Bio yeast nutrient that prevents stuck fermentation of musts rich in sugar. The plant protein and bio yeast nutrient are free from genetically modified organisms and allergens and support the current industry trend of vegan and health-conscious beverage production.

Eaton is also presenting filtration systems and housings for its ranges of filter sheets, stacked disc cartridges, filter cartridges and filter bags, as well as a wide range of beverage treatment products and filter aids.
