Weeds remain one of the biggest challenges for sustainable crop production. The EU project, Oper8, has been working on an exchange of methods in alternative weed control in a network across EU.

Results from the project are now available on the Oper8 project website as factsheets, practice abstracts, demonstration videos, podcasts, newsletters, E-learning module and other materials.

The Oper8 project sought to provide knowledge and tools for farmers, advisors, and policymakers across Europe. The materials produced are available in seven languages and have been created by farming organizations, applied researchers, and academic institutions across Europe.

The fact sheets and practice abstracts have been produced by partners in all participating countries – Greece, Italy, France, Spain, UK, Latvia and Sweden. They are based on best practices identified in each country to reduce the use of herbicides, and are mainly applicable in vineyards, horticultural crops, or arable crops.

Short videos have also been produced to highlight some of the best practices. They have often been recorded in conjunction with the demonstration activities arranged during the project.

In the Oper8 Knowledge Bank you will find:

  • Over 80 fact sheets in 7 languages
  • 100 Practice abstracts
  • Over 50 demo videos
  • E-learning module (Participants completing the module can obtain a Certificate of Completion.)

  • 20 podcast episodes
  • Inventory page – bringing together more than 700 scientific publications and studies on alternative weed management methods
  • Newsletters

All the materials are results from a strong network with farming organizations, applied researchers and academic institutions across the EU within the project Oper8.

The Oper8 project received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe Framework Programme under Grant Agreement NO 101060591.
