Upcoming Garlic Project Workshops: Minnetrista, Orr, Austin, Morris

- By: Jerry FordThe Minnesota Premium Garlic Project has several workshops and classes in September and October for market growers and gardeners. More information about these and future workshops, as well as resources for garlic growers and marketers, is always available on our Garlic Project homepage.
The full “Growing & Marketing Premium Garlic” workshop, aimed at market growers, will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon Sat., Sept. 29, at Gale Woods Farm, 7210 County Rd 110 W, Minnetrista. REGISTER. Seed garlic will be available to purchase from Coffman Garlic and Bob Volkenant.
A shorter workshop aimed at gardeners, “Growing Great Garlic,” is noon-1:30 p.m. Sat., Sept. 8, at Orr Center Expo 2018 in Orr. The overall Expo entry fee is $10, with all proceeds benefiting the Orr Center.
Then, “Growing Great Garlic” for gardeners will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tues., Sept. 11, at Ruby Rupner Building at the Hormel Nature Center, 1304 21st St. NE Austin, Minn. This event is sponsored by the Mower County Historical Society; seed garlic will be available to purchase from Paul Schmidt, Sunfresh Food.
Finally, SFA will host a Garlic Planting Field Day on Sat., Oct. 13, at both the U. of M.-Morris and Prairie Horizon Farm, 29731 302nd St, Starbuck. The time for this is TBA; watch SFA Connect and our Garlic Project homepage for more info.
