US Composting Council’s 15th Annual Conference & Trade Show: Bigger & Better Than Ever! 2008 Conference Scheduled In Oakland, Ca
Holbrook, New York – The USCC 15th Annual Conference and Trade Show was another huge success. Nearly 750 composting and organics recycling professionals and more than 100 exhibitors attended the US Composting Council’s 15th Annual Conference and Trade Show, January 21-24 in Orlando, FL. Hosted by a record 36 sponsors, the Annual Conference attracted a national and international audience, with representatives from nearly every state and 14 countries.
In addition to three days of training courses, educational and technical sessions, the conference also featured, Equipment Demonstrations by many of the leading equipment manufacturers and suppliers in the industry. Grinding and shredding equipment from Peterson Pacific, Duratech, Diamond Z, Bandit Industries, and Vermeer Manufacturing. Screening equipment from Orbit, Wildcat, Komptech, Construction Equipment Company, Powerscreen, ALLU & McCloskey International. Mixing equipment from ROTO-MIX & Supreme International. Turning equipment from Midwest Biosystems, Backhus and Vermeer. Compost application and spreading equipment from Kuhn Knight and ROTO-MIX. Mulch coloring equipment and bagging equipment from Rotochopper. Wood shears by Vail Products. Compost and soil blending equipment by Dakota Blenders. Blower trucks by Peterson and Erosion control products and compost application equipment by Filtrexx.
Among this year’s conference highlights were awards presented for outstanding achievements in the composting industry:
- Hi Kellogg Award for Outstanding Service to the Composting Industry, awarded to Chris Bales, New England Organics, ME
- Rufus Chaney Award for Research Excellence, awarded to Fatih Büyüksönmez, San Diego State University, CA
- Composter of the Year, awarded to Steve Elliott, Mecklenburg County, NC Compost Central, Charlotte, NC
- USCC Clean Water Award Sponsored by Filtrexx, awarded to Wayne King, ERTH Products, Atlanta, GA
Next year’s US Composting Council’s Annual Conference & Trade Show is scheduled for February 8-12, at the Oakland Marriott City Center in Oakland, California. Another tremendous event is planned, with the most comprehensive program of workshops & training seminars, educational & technical sessions, and tours & equipment demonstrations available.
