WeRadiate has been a growing passion for several years, initially just as a concept of interest focusing primarily on compost operations within community gardens; it has now grown in scope to incorporate community based operations and large scale facilities processing hundreds to thousands of tons of food scraps annually. While our scope has expanded, our hopes remain the same: to create high quality, healthy standards of compost enabling the revitalization of our planet’s soil. We recognize that … Good soil makes healthy plants I Good soil makes strong communities I Good soil makes our city sustainable

We are lucky to have support from so many community partners including ZeroToGo, The Poop Project, Vokashi, Rentah, Wakoma, Earth Matter, and ioby, who have promoted WeRadiate in so many ways. We also thank our field partners giving us space to pilot and test our sensors across different models of compost systems; thank you to the 462 Halsey Street Community Garden (where the idea was conceived), Smiling Hogshead Ranch, the Queens Botanical Garden Compost Project, and Common Ground Compost.

Over the past year, technology partners have helped us expand our capacity to build sturdier field sensors, greater environmental data ranges, and include us into a strong community willing us to succeed. The nucleus of this support is from Terry Moore of MCCI, and The Things Network community in New York. Terry and his team have been instrumental to the growth of WeRadiate this year, for which we are very thankful.

Terry also helped connect WeRadiate to a number of partners including the Manhattan Borough President, Gale Brewer who has publicly recognized our value and work in urban agriculture. We thank Lucian Reynolds for making this connection possible. Mike Doell of Ross + Doell has been working with us to develop beautiful 3D-printed enclosures for field research. Mike’s 3D work is phenomenal, and we look forward to working with him moving forward. As we continue to prototype and test, Adafruit has been a reliable source of Open Source Hardware allowing WeRadiate to quickly iterate and greatly expand our capabilities.

Of course WeRadiate cannot stress how much we appreciate the contributions, insights, and FUN from our team and the dozens and dozens and dozens of well-wishers and passionate positive contributors. Those of you reading this that have been a part of our concept since the early days, and those who have blessed and backed us more recently, with your time, energy, and jokes, we thank you all!

You activators are all a part of WeRadiate, as you have each helped us move this concept to the runway. Now we look forward to having you with us as we finally take flight in creating healthy soils, healthy minds, and a stronger healthier planet.
