Proptek - Model 008SLED -8 Cell Sleeve & Air Tray Propagation System for 100mm Ellepot
The 8 Cell Sleeve & Air Tray Propagation System is designed to enhance tree and shrub propagation by using 100mm Ellepots within an advanced sleeve and tray configuration. This system combines a highly efficient growing setup with automation compatibility, offering time and cost savings throughout the growth and distribution processes. It supports early-stage plant development by maintaining moisture levels and promoting robust root systems through excellent aeration and drainage. With a design that facilitates manual or mechanical handling, it enables streamlined grading and spacing. Various tray configurations are available to suit different propagation needs, making it adaptable to a range of plant types including citrus, fruit trees, and woody ornamentals. Notably, the system allows for the efficient use and recovery of trays, ensuring a minimal environmental footprint and maintaining an inventory of reusable materials.

This 8 cell sleeve and Air Tray® design holds 8 100mm diameter Ellepots, either 4.5” deep directly in the Air Tray® or 9” deep when combined with the sleeves. The sleeves slot easily into the Air Tray® and can be lifted out manually or mechanically for grading and spacing.
One of the key concepts with the Ellepot/Proptek system is how compatible with automation it is. Serious time and money efficiency savings can be made throughout the whole growing process, right from filling, to sorting & grading to shipping out of the door.
The Ellepot supports the growing media and holds it together whilst the roots are growing, meaning they can be moved or transplanted far sooner than in traditional systems. The sleeves support the plants in their early stages and stops them drying out too fast. The inserts are held in such a way that also allows enough air movement for great aeration and drainage and fantastic ‘air pruning’ of the root system.
Once the trees are grown to the desired size, the Ellepot insert can be removed, packaged and sent to the field or customer without any plastic leaving the nursery, helping to ensure trays never go missing. For more information on Sleeve and Air Tray® growing environments click here.
The Air Tray® comes in four versions: with feet, with lugs, with feet and lugs or the plain Air Tray®. The foot version allows the Air Tray® to be raised off the ground away from standing water to allow air to better flow around the base to help air pruning and reduce disease. The ‘lug’ option enables the Air Tray® to easily be guided on a T-Rail benching system.
