Procedure Overview

The method is based on a competitive colorimetric ELISA assay. The plate wells are coated with capture antibodies directed against anti-Aflatoxin M1 antibodies. Aflatoxin M1 standards or sample solution, Aflatoxin M1–HRP conjugate and anti-Aflatoxin M1 antibodies are added. Free Aflatoxin M1 and Aflatoxin M1-HRP Conjugate compete for the Aflatoxin M1 antibody binding sites. At the same time, the anti- Aflatoxin M1 antibodies are also bound by the immobilized capture antibodies. Any unbound Aflatoxin M1-HRP Conjugate is then removed in a washing step. The TMB Substrate is added to the wells. The resulting color intensity, after addition of substrate, has an inverse relationship with the target concentration in the sample.
