Benmore Fernery, Cowal Peninsula
Steeped in history and surrounded by dramatic scenery, Benmore Botanic Garden lies in a magnificent mountainside setting on the Cowal Peninsula. After an 18 month restoration project undertaken by Climate Controls the Victorian fernery re-opened on 8th September 2009. It is unique because of its scale (140m2) and is now a Grade B listed building of great architectural and botanical value. Built into a hillside ranges from single storey to three levels with a vaulted entrance, grotto and pool. The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland has deemed it “extremely rare and unique in its design”.Climate Controls Ltd were able to provide a solution that has been met with the admiration of all who have seen the completed structure.’ Ian Lawrie, RBG Edinburgh
