At Beta Hatch, we’re reimagining the food system
Currently- the food system is wasteful, inefficient, and expensive.

Up to 60% of food is wasted and 30% of cropland feeds animals, not humans. Agriculture is the greatest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, more than cars, trucks and planes combined.

At Beta Hatch we use 100% of the insect grown from less than 2% of the water needed for other proteins. We close the loop on waste, sourcing waste food, waste heat, and converting wasted industrial space.

We harness the beetle, the planet’s most diverse animal group, to reduce the impact our food system has on biodiversity loss.

A Zero Waste System
Mealworms can eat almost anything. We prioritize sourcing safe, feed quality ‘wastes’ from local food producers to reduce their footprint and ours. Beta Hatch is actively working to redefine feedstocks for insects so that feed production no longer competes with food production.

Indoor farming without an outside impact
The move to farming indoors helps buffer our food system against climate volatility. It also takes energy. We use waste heat to condition our grow rooms and we source our energy renewably. Our calories come with a smaller kilowatt impact.

Demand for feed is year-round and global, but current production is seasonal and regional. Beta Hatch matches our supply to this demand by bringing our production closer to feedstocks and customers.
