Canopy Cover

Canopy cover or crown closure helps in determining the volume and density of a stand. Traditionally measuring canopy cover from the ground has been very tedious and time consuming task. TRESTIMA brings a unique met hod of measuring Canopy Cover from the ground simply by shooting pictures upwards. The percentage of visible sky is calculated from each of the pictures objectively and in a normative way and the result is averaged for the session. Pictures can be taken with free hand as sensory information is used in determining the absolute upward direction. Collecting a sample takes literally a second or two.
