Captain - Drip Irrigation System
What is drip irrigation? Drip irrigation is a system designed to deliver water and and nutrients to crops in the most efficient manner. The system essentially applies water and nutrients directly to the root zone of the plants to improve effectiveness. Thus, drip irrigation is the most advanced technology available to farmer for achieving higher yield in the context of limited resources.
A drip irrigation systems consists of a network of "driplines" which are arranged along the rows of crops. These driplines are embed with "drippers" or "emitters" which are spaced to coincide with each crop. The drippers emit drops of water along with plant nutrients directly at the root zone of the plants. This ensures the goal of per drop more crop.
Resource contraint (land, water, energy and labor) is the biggest problems faced by farmers globally. Drip irrigation is the only technology which addresses these problems simultaneoulsy and ensure the maximum "ROI" for farmers.
- High water application efficiency
- Efficient use of fertilizer/nutrient due to localized application and reduced leaching
- Increased land utilization - ability to irrigate irregular shaped fields
- Moisture within the root zone can be maintained at field capacity
- Soil type plays less important role in frequency of irrigation
