Kepro - Model ATP -Complementary Feed Meter
Complementary feed for all species which get their drinking water through pipelines
TEST BIOFILM IN DRINKING WATER WITH ATP METER ON YOUR FARM:
Use the ATP meter to test if there is a biofilm present in the drinking water system.
Biofilm has the following disadvantages:
- source of waterborne transmission of pathogens
- can cause antibiotic resistance
- can reduce performance of the animals due to the high bacterial load.
WHEN TO USE THE ATP METER:
Testing needs to be done on a regular basis.
Broilers: weekly basis and after medicine treatment. Risk period is the brooding period: low water flow, high temperature and usually medicine use like vitamins.
Layers: four weekly basis and after medicine treatment.
Risk period: around point of lay, because animals are prone to diseases.
HOW TO USE THE ATP METER:
Take Lucipac Pen-AQUA out of the refrigerator 20 minutes before use, so that the stick reaches an operating temperature of 20 –35°C.
Take drinking water samples from 3 different places on the farm:
- From the main tank
- From the water pipe entering the chicken house
- From a drinking nipple/tap at the end of the line.
- Take the stick from the reaction vessel. (Make sure not to touch the sample collector in doing so.)
- Immerse the sample collector in the drinking water sample. Make sure that no air bubbles remain in the comb. Carefully take the sample collector from the drinking water, keeping it vertical.
- Put the sample collector back in the reaction chamber and penetrate the perforations to the reagent and reaction chamber by pressing on the handle.
- Shake the LuciPac Pen-AQUA, so that the entire sample liquid reaches the reaction chamber.
- Swing the LuciPac Pen-AQUA until the reagent has dissolved completely and the solution is clear.
- Now insert the LuciPac Pen-AQUA in the measuring chamber of the Lumitester and close the lid. Press “ENTER”. The results are shown on the display after 10 seconds.
HOW TO INTERPRET THE RESULTS OF THE ATP METER:
ACTION:
When action is required, clean waterpipes with stabilized hydroxy peroxide. Flush waterpipes after medicine use and during hot weather.
EVALUATION OF TREATMENT:
Repeat test after cleaning drinking water pipes.
