ECOTUNNEL - Composting Unit
From Mechanical-Biological Waste Treatment
Composting involves aerobic fermentation (the microbiological break down of organic matter) in the presence of air. Before composting, the matter undergoes a more or less complex phase, depending on the nature of the waste, serving to remove unwanted material and homogenise the organic matter. Composting is followed by a refining process.
Product Details
VINCI Environnement’s processes are adapted to the types and quality of waste to be treated:
- Biowaste (organic waste obtained from source segregated waste collection)
- Residual household waste
- Mixed organic waste, i.e. co-composting
ECOTUNNEL, a modern composting process
VINCI Environnement’s proprietary ECOTUNNEL® process was developed to meet new demands in terms of both treatment quality and working conditions. Composting takes place in an entirely closed reinforced concrete reactor. All process parameters inside the reactor are perfectly controlled for optimum treatment performance. In addition, the reactor is equipped with a purpose-designed air processing system designed to maintain optimum working conditions for the operators. By opting for air suction instead of blowing, the process limits the dispersal of pollutants during loading and unloading.
A further advantage is the inclusion of an air destratification system that removes layered accumulations of light gases in the tunnel.
