In the early 1930s, Alfred Thomsen established a small company that sold the "Grab" sewer cleaner and other relatively simple and highly effective tools.
The company evolved into Epoke A/S, which is one of Europe`s leading manufacturers of machines for winter maintenance today.

1930s
Alfred Thomsen`s father, Ole Christian Thomsen, invented the "Grab" sewer cleaner and a gravel spreader with a spreading disc.

In 1936, the "Grab" went into production, and approximately 400,000 units have been sold since then.

1950s
Alfred Thomsen developed the Epoke principle, and in 1955, the first Epoke sand- and salt spreader was put into production based on this principle.

In 1956, a dealership agreement was made with C. Grindvold A/S in Norway, the company`s first international dealer. C. Grindvold A/S is still an Epoke dealer today.

In 1957, the current factory was built in Askov near Vejen in Southern Jutland.

1960s
With established dealers in 23 countries, Epoke A/S expanded exports to all of Europe and North America. At the same time, production was expanded to include lawnmowers, sweepers, and asphalt pavers.

1970s
Sales of Epoke products increased significantly.

The launch of the PWB models with a 5 m³ container and 8 mechanical gears.
Further development of the road wheel, making the spreader independent of the truck.

In the late 1970s, the first models that spread pre-wettet salt were launched.

The factory in Askov was expanded.

1980s
A new electronic remote control was introduced.

The first liquid spreaders were marketed.

The S-3500 series was developed.

1990s
Epoke was owned by the third generation, and the company was ISO certified.

Exports expanded and became global.

The auger spreader SALT1 was introduced.

The introduction of the high-tech remote control systems EpoBasic and EpoMaster with data collection.

A new electrical department was established with in-house production of remote controls, cables, computer units, and printed circuit boards.

2000+
The SIRIUS series and later the SIRIUS AST were introduced.

EpoSat (GPS-controlled spreading) was gradually introduced globally.

With the acquisition of HCW in Randers, Epoke strengthened its position in the liquid spreader market.

The SIRIUS Combi 4400 was introduced.

2010
Wireless remote control was introduced.

The high-speed spreader SIRIUS Combi 4402 was introduced.

The high-speed liquid spreader VIRTUS AST was introduced.

The auger spreader CERTUS AST was introduced.

Erhvervsinvest became the new owner of Epoke A/S.

2020s
Launch of the EpoData WEB-App for data collection and fleet management.

New remote control, EpoMaster X2. It comes with an updated user interface, 6 physical buttons, and integrated navigation for GPS-controlled spreading. It is also possible with two-way communication to update GPS routes and data collection.

Dynamic dosage in collaboration with Klimator A/B in Sweden. A contemporary project focused on enviroment and economic savings.

SIRIUS COMBI is launched as a heated sand spreader.

SIRIUS AST is launched with a slurry grinder.

IGLOO S2700 is launched.

VIRTUS GIGANTUS is launched, a liquid spreader with a 30,000-liter tank capacity.

With a focus on CO² savings and sustainability, there is great attention on CO²-neutral operational methods.
Epoke now offers these 3 solutions for CO²-neutral operations: SR (hub drive), SW (road wheel), and electric drive.
In Germany and the Netherlands, fully electric trucks are operating with hub drive, ensuring 100% CO²-neutral operations.
