The FAUN EASYPRESS is without doubt the most innovative solution for the efficient collection of household and industrial waste and recyclable materials. This front and side loader combination is unique to FAUN and is available with a superstructure volume of 25m³; with this vehicle it is possible to collect materials from commercially available 2 and 4 wheeled MGB and DU bins of up to 1.8m³. With a lifting capacity of 850 kg the loading mechanism offers a high degree of safety in use even when emptying overfilled bins.

The loading device of the EASYPRESS has a loading arm behind the driver’s cab, which is mounted with a unique and innovative hinge. Thanks to this hinge the loading arm can swing sideways with a radius of up to 33 degrees. In addition the loading arm has a hinged loading beam, which makes frontal and sideways lifting possible. Thanks to these two hinges bins can be lifted in a distance of up to 3 metres, regardless of their position. The high-performance loading device of the EASYPRESS can be fitted with a comb, diamond pickup or grabber and it is also possible for cradle and identification systems to be retrofitted.

The innovative comb lifting device of the EASYPRESS consists of 2 x 4 lifting fingers, which have been fixed singly in an intelligent way on a central shaft and as a result they can lift bins without any problems, whatever their position. Because the fingers can move independently from each other it is possible to avoid awkwardly placed bins falling over during lifting. The lifting fingers copy the way human fingers work and grip the comb lifting device of the MGB bins. If in doing so one of the fingers touches a rib of the comb pick-up then this one finger swings back, the remaining fingers can still guarantee that the comb pick-up is gripped cleanly and in this way the lifting device does not have to make another approach of the bin. The bin is then swivelled and fixed into a locking bar with the fingers. In the case of bins with deposits of material or snow in the area of the locking plane the active swivelling into the fixed locking bar offers the considerable advantage that the interfering material is scraped away and safe locking is guaranteed.

The DU bin lift of the optional diamond pickup is centres itself onto the diamonds of the loading device. Even a very rough and imprecise approach of the bins will lift them up safely and speeds up the lifting process tremendously. Here the locking is achieved via a hydraulic, swivelling locking bar. Because of the special shape of the diamond pickup there is no need for rollover prevention. The construction of the lifting system needs very little maintenance and guarantees the highest collection speeds.

FAUN also offers the grabber as an additional option and extension of the diamond pickup. The grabber is mounted on the diamonds and can be used for the collection of a number of different bin systems. The grabber is checked for a clean and safe lock onto the bin via a patented monitoring system. This means that bins with two wheels can be lifted individually regardless of their type or position.

Depending on the lifting system and the type of bin chosen 2 bins can lifted simultaneously sideways or frontally in front of the driver’s cab in the direct field of vision of the operator. After the bins have been lifted the loading arm is locked into place again, the lifting beam is positioned in front of the driver’s cab and the whole loading arm is moved in a circular movement over the driver’s cab to empty the bin. These 3 movements are not carried out sequentially one after the other, but in one flowing movement, controlled by the driver with the help of the joystick. The advantages of this type of lifting are obvious. All loading procedures take place by making use of a standard chassis in the direct field of vision of the driver/operator. The EASYPRESS does not need a right hand drive chassis. Because there is no need for a right hand drive vehicle it will be easier and safer to rejoin the flow of traffic even for inexperienced operators. There is no need to check the actual loading procedure by looking in a camera, mirror or by contorting the upper body. This ergonomic advantage not only increases the safety of the whole loading procedure but also protects the health of the operator. Lifting and moving the bins takes place as far from the vehicle as possible. Here too the driver has the bins in his sight at all important points in the process. As a result of this frontal procedure the EASYPRESS does not need any space next to the vehicle to empty the bins. This means that it is possible to use it in narrow streets without any danger of collision with walls, vehicles and other obstacles next to it and by moving the lifting movement to the front this safety-relevant process avoids a danger area in which innocent passers-by might find themselves without wanting to be in a danger zone. The direct and untrammelled view of the operator on the operating area makes it possible for bins to be lifted more quickly, because the operator is able to anticipate the position of the bins and the necessary movements of the lifting arm at an earlier stage. In particular the simultaneous lifting of 2 bins is considerably simplified and speeded up as a result. With a cycle time of approx. 10 seconds the whole emptying process into the superstructure that follows is also very fast and efficient.

The emptying cycle is operated and controlled by the operator via an intelligent Joystick control. Essential movements of the loading mechanism in the emptying cycle are automated. Thanks to a permanent electronic monitoring system of the operating conditions the bins that were lifted up can be steered quickly and without collision close to the contours of the driver’s cab and the superstructure.
The practically horizontal position of the bins when they are lifted up as well as an optimal tipping angle ensures a perfect emptying movement. Bins and material are first of all speeded up by the loading mechanism. The abrupt stopping of the bin in the emptying position means that because of the force of gravity the material will fall from the bin easily and quickly. Because the bins are dipped deep into the opening, any sudden winds will not be able to get hold of material during the collection. In the case of longer trips the storage space is closed by means of a roof that can be swivelled back. Because the bins are emptied frontally, over the driver’s cab it is possible to have a feed funnel with a large diameter. This means that the EASYPRESS can have a press plate with a large compaction surface, which guarantees quick clearance of the pouring space of the press plate to avoid waiting times during the emptying process and to guarantee a high loading speed.

The linear compression apparatus of the EASYPRESS also has tremendous compression force thanks to the scissor shaped telescope cylinder of the press plate, which means it can achieve a very high degree of compression and optimised utilisation of the available superstructure volume. The superstructure is emptied via an extended lifting of the press plate and is initiated from the driver’s cab with the help of the intelligent joystick control. During this procedure the waste is prevented from being tipped behind the compression apparatus thanks to an apron plate that is fixed to the press plate. Emptying the bins in halls with restricted height and the stability when emptying whilst standing on uneven surfaces is guaranteed because there is no rear dumping without the need for additional on-board apparatus. The press guide is low maintenance and stable, access to the compression chamber is easy via a large side door (cleaning hatch) as well as the maintenance hatch to the storage chamber and a pneumatically swivelled tipping plate help to shorten standing times due to maintenance and cleaning activities.

The superstructure container is of a robust design with practically identical diameter throughout. Thanks to the use of very strong and light materials the weight is kept low and the payload high. Thanks to the hemispheric shape of the rear wall the compressed waste can easily moved upwards for optimal distribution in the receptacle. There are no waste blockages even when the superstructure gets increasingly full so that there is no need to interrupt the compression process. The extraordinary compression unit in combination with a small rear vehicle overhand guarantees optimal load distribution and high manoeuvrability at the depot.

The operation of the loading mechanism and the superstructure takes place via a user-friendly, intelligent CAN-BUS control, which already shows operating status reports and fault alarms as standard via a display in the driver’s cab. Optionally the EASYPRESS can also be fitted with a GSM-supported remote maintenance module and then operating status reports and fault alarms can be transmitted to the subsidiary in real time.

The ultra-modern production facilities of FAUN guarantee that all processing is of the very best quality. The pressing installation, loading device and bin are of the highest quality thanks to advanced surface treatment, fine grain sand blasting, priming and multi-component painting in the FAUN works. As a result the superstructure and the process comply with the highest requirements of environment protection.
