BioDrill - Model BDX 180 - High Precision Small Seeder
BioDrill allows extremely uniform drilling of small-seeded crops with precision down to a seed rate of 1 kg. The pneumatic model is equipped with the same metering system as Väderstad’s other seed drills. The studded roller is also from Rapid. The mountable small seeder BioDrill is easy to fit on cultivators and seed drills. With BioDrill, farmers can save on passes, diesel and time.
BioDrill provides new possibilities
The mountable small seeder BioDrill fitted on a soil cultivating machine from Väderstad allows fast and reliable establishment of winter oilseed rape in a stressful period that is often dry and difficult. The time saving contributes valuable days in the important early development of the oilseed rape crop and thereby many kilograms of extra yield.
With BioDrill, it is possible to sow ley at the same time as a main crop, or to sow ley or an intercrop directly during soil cultivation.
Electric drive for high accuracy
BioDrill BDA 360 has electric drive, allowing very precise setting of the seed rate from 1 to 30 kg/ha. The driving speed is measured with ground radar, controlling the precision of seed metering. The hydraulic fan requires an oil flow of 35 litres/minute and 180 bar.
BioDrill BDA 360 has a highly modern central pneumatic seed meter with exchangeable rollers and a fan to create a flow of air that transports the seeds to the distributor nozzles.
Easy calibration
The calibration can be carried out within a few minutes. The sample pouch is attached to the Fenix seed meter with a bayonet fitting. The pouch is then filled using a practically positioned remote control on the hopper, the sample is weighed and the value is entered in ControlStation in the tractor cab. ControlStation automatically calculates the relationship between amount of seed metered out and number of turns the seed meter has made. The desired seed rate can then be specified in kg/ha directly in ControlStation.
Sturdy CE-approved platform
All versions of BDA 360 are fitted with a sturdy, stable CE-approved platform for simple, easy refilling with seed. The steps fold up and are locked away securely during work in the field.
BioDrill can easily be removed if necessary, which also maximises its life.
Spreader plate gives extremely good seed distribution
A spreader plate is available for Carrier and ensures a uniform distribution of seeds across the entire working width, even at high speeds or in windy conditions.
Electric studded roller metering
BioDrill 180 and 250 have a studded roller metering system that allows seed to fall under its own weight. The metering system is powered by an electric motor and a ground radar unit.
BioDrill 180 and 250 suitable for smaller machines
The hopper for BioDrill 180 can hold 180 litres and is designed for Carrier, Cultus and TopDown in 3 and 3.5 m working widths. BioDrill 250 has a 250-litre hopper and is designed for 4-m models of Carrier and Cultus. The hopper is placed low so that it is easily accessible for refilling or emptying, which saves time.
BioDrill – works with nature
With BioDrill you can save time, money and at the same time improve soil fertility. By drilling grass seed or a catch crop at the same time as doing another cultivation or at the same time as drilling the main crop, valuable time and diesel can be saved.
There are plenty of good examples of farmers that establish Oil Seed Rape when doing the primary cultivation with a TopDown or Cultus. The deeper cultivation gives good and even conditions for the root development and retains ground moisture. Other farmers successfully drill grass seed at the same time as drilling barley to establish the next year pasture to save 2-3 additional passes.
Also from an agronomy point of view there are several advantages with BioDrill
Drilling a catch crop with BioDrill keeps the soil growing all the time. The leakage of nitrogen is limited to a minimum and the organic matter that will be incorporated in the top soil level is maximized. This is a good example of how BioDrill helps you work with nature to bring both environmental as economical benefits.
Using the BioDrill to drill grass/clover at the same time as drilling barley or oats is another good example on how a preceding crop can become a safe and efficient environment for the emerging grass plants resulting in a strong start for your pasture.
