LANDWRX - Inter Seeders
Inter seeding is the process of sowing cover crops into an already growing main crop, such as maize. Typically, this is carried out 4-6 weeks after planting.
- Inter Seeders Working width - 6 , 8 , 10 & 12 row versions available
- Work rate - 4 to 12 Hectares per hour @ 8-12 kph
- Coulter spacing - Variable 150-200mm
- Coulter type - 15mm tine or double disc options
- Coulter Downforce - 20-100kg of additional downforce
- Seed hopper - 500 or 750-litre tanks available with electric drive metering, GPS speed sensing rate control and hydraulic fan as standard
- Transport width - 2.7m
- Weight - 2100kg -3150kg with an empty hopper
The advantages to sowing a cover crop at this stage are:
- Avoids the herbicide residue window
- The cover crops do not compete early on with the main crop avoiding any yield reduction.
- Builds soil health and structure
- Prevents soil erosion
- Removes the risk of establishing a cover in the Autumn
LANDWRX Inter Seeders are designed to drill the cover crop instead of broadcasting this vastly improves seed to soil contact resulting in better establishment rates.
Based on our folding heavy-duty toolbar, individual parallelogram units host tine or disc coulters. Coulter spacings are fully adjustable throughout the full width of the drill. Behind the coulter openers are rubber press-wheels which consolidate the surface to generate excellent seed-to-soil contact and improve moisture retention in what can be a dry time of year. The press wheels also ensure a consistent seeding depth is maintained by forcing the parallelogram frames to rise and fall over surface undulations.
