USNR - Log Boss Carriage
The Log Boss Carriage is made of superior construction that stands up to harsh sawmill environments. Log Boss uses servo-controlled linear positioners for precise knee alignment, and features straight line positive dogging to eliminate potential mis-cuts. Two to five standard knees slide on chromed round and flat-ways. It is an ideal candidate for large diameter logs of 42" to 60" (107 cm to 152 cm) in diameter. Log Boss is an industry-tested product known for being robust and reliable. Coupled with our state of the art 3D optimization systems, Log Boss achieves the industry`s best recovery rate.

Frame
- Cast iron plow type flat wheel scrapers
- Shock absorbing mounting pads for trucks and blocks
- Rubber bumper pads mounted on end of frame
- Wheel materials: Vee is T-1 with steel side plates; Flat is either through hardened cast or polymer with steel side plates
- Wheel and bearing assemblies use Timken cup and cone bearings, cover plate, and non-adjustable grease zerk
- Steel plumbed lube line drips oil to vee wheels at each end of carriage
Blocks
- Made of heavy duty angle with gussets
- Chromed reversible wear bars for blocks
Knees
- Plate thicknesses; side plates at 3/4”, front plate at 8”(overlapping sideplates allow welding on both sides), bottom plate 1” milled vibratory stress relieved
- Delrin wearstrip on bottom of knee, grooved for better oil distribution
- Three lubricating points on each side of knee, steel plumbed lubrication lines have Lincoln injectors and indicator pins
- Hydraulic cylinder attaches to knee using a compression yoke clevis with zero mechanical backlash
Dog Assemblies
- Upper board dog holder is made of heavy duty fabricated steel
- Lower board dog holder is attached to cylinder with bumper
- Chromed dog bar
- Upper board dog bits are made of high strength cast alloy hardened to 360 Brinell hardness throughout - dogs are removeable from front
- Bottom bit fabricated from high strength low alloy steel (1040)
- Dog bits have maximum 1/32” clearance from face plates for minimum side travel
- Dog bit spring is a special tension type Log Boss design
- All sliding, pivoting or rotating points are lubricated and bronze bused where necessary
- Available in horizontal and 17-degree slant configurations
