EnconManure Digester

SHARE

The Encon manure digester is one of the best performing manure digesters. The use of the patented Encon manure digester as a manure digester (mono digester) results in such a high production of biogas that fermentation is also economically possible on a smaller scale. With a biogas yield of more than 40 Nm³ per tonne of fresh cattle manure and an internal heat demand of less than 15%, the Encon manure digester supplies more than twice the net biogas as a standard manure digester. Encon Clean Energy supplies both the manure digester and the license (to build the digester in-house). Obtaining only the license with the central operating system is also possible.

  • No moving parts such as agitators, etc. in the digester
  • All parts that come into contact with liquids are made of stainless steel
  • The manure digester processes the substrate in a plug flow
  • The fermentation takes place under slight overpressure
  • The residence time in the manure digester is 9 to 15 days
  • The biogas consists of 50% – 70% methane
  • The biogas production with “daily fresh” manure is ± 40 Nm³ per m³
  • The Encon digester is a relatively small digester, more than half the size of a conventional stirred tank installation
  • Sediment can be easily removed while the manure digester remains in operation
  • Extra safe, because you do not have to enter the digester to clean the digester
  • Positive residual value of the digester due to the residual value of stainless steel

The F-type digester can be built as standard for capacities of 5 m³ (F120) manure per day up to 20 m³ (F480) manure per day. Larger dimensions of this type are technically possible, but the building height can then be a problem (due to permits). In addition to the F-type plug flow digesters, such as the F120 (120 m³), Encon also supplies 3-stage digesters for larger capacities, with an F-type digester for the production of seed biomass for these 3-stage digesters.

The entire installation complies with NTA9766 , so no environmental permit is required for this installation.

In addition to the technical advantages that the Encon digesters have compared to competing digesters, there are also some advantages that become apparent when operating the digester:

SAFETY
According to an inventory by the Dutch Safety Board, 35 fatal manure accidents have occurred since 1980. In recent years there have been at least an average of 3 serious manure accidents per year. It does not need to be entered to clean the Encon digester. The sluice gates in the conical bottoms make it easy to remove settled parts and particles from the outside.

The space under the digester can be entered through a wide door, making it suitable for storage. This space is equipped with ventilation openings at the top and bottom. Concentrations of heavy or light vapors will therefore not form.

HYGIENIZE
In the Encon digester, the heat exchanger is not continuously needed for the fermentation process. This means that the heat exchanger can also be used to hygienise manure. This has the advantage that the residual heat from the hygienization can be fed into the digester, so that one cubic meter of manure can be hygienized with a net 20 kWh of heat. This makes the solid fraction worthy of export.

STAINLESS STEEL
Stainless steel has a long service life and can be easily modernized / adapted. Which is not easily possible with coated steel or plastic tanks.

RESIDUAL VALUE
The residual value of the Encon digester remains positive, even in 30 or 40 years the stainless steel will still have a real positive value, which has changed into a negative value for steel or plastic digesters, so that costs will arise when the installation is closed or renewed.
