AquaSearch - Model SALT/TRIP -Maturing Rainbow Trout in Saltwaters
To produce very large, never maturing rainbow trout in saltwater, we offer triploid/sterile eggs based on AquaSearch SALT. Throughout their life these fish grow without the characteristics and setback of maturation. This allows the fish farmer to produce all sizes of fish.
Our triploids are all produced by high pressure technology which reduces the frequency of deformities to an absolute minimum.
Triploid trout require more stable and slightly higher oxygen conditions than conventional trout. It is more sensitive to stress and handling, especially in later life stages. But if the fish farmer takes his precautions, he is rewarded with a fish that can be grown to very large size. In excess of 8 kg in less than three years if conditions are right.
