Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS)
From Aquaculture
The Recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) can be defined as systems that incorporate treatments and reuse systems for water, in which less than 10% of the total volume is renewed. This type of system allows the control of physico-chemical parameters such as: temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, CO2, pH, alkalinity and ammoniacal nitrogen, nitrite and nitrates.

COMPACT RAS PLANTS AND FOR WELLBOATS
The transportation of living fish in closed systems has been developed in recent years as a very important alternative compared to the traditional systems in open circuit. The emergence of infectious diseases, such as the ISA virus has become increasingly necessary for the transport to be carried out in closed circuit water treatment. The ability to monitor the essential parameters of the water for proper transport of the fish, makes this water treatment system stand out above the rest.
The three most limiting factors in the transport in closed circuits are oxygen, CO2 and total ammoniacal nitrogen (TAN)
One of the factors that affect the quality of the water during transport is the metabolism of the fish and this in turn is linked to other variables such as the level of stress, the water temperature, fish size and others.
OPERATION OF THE SYSTEM
During the loading process, transfer and download the system monitors the oxygen values, temperature, pH and CO2. These last two are measured in the return of the water to the plant or the output of the vats and the oxygen and temperature at the outlet of the plant or at the entrance to the tanks.
Biomass values are input in the PLC plant recirculation control. This PLC continuously monitors the values outlined above. Once finished loading process begins recirculation. Oxicom Aquaculture has developed a modular system of mixed recirculation that allows to significantly increasing the density of fish during transport.
SECURITY
In our recirculating systems, a proportion of the water is renewed. The new water entering is treated in the plant and that moves is treated by a system of filtration and UV disinfection. This process is intended to avoid any kind of infectious transmission to the sea.
BASIC COMPONENTS OF THE RECIRCULATION COMPACT PLANTS
SECTION A
Storage Tank + Temperature Measurement pH and CO2
SECTION B
Filtration, in deep sand or mechanical equipped with an automatic cleaning system. This section incorporates the PLC for the control of all the plant that is connected with the bridge for the monitoring of all values.
SECTION C
Cracker foams with adding ozone to improve the process of foaming. This section incorporates a UV disinfection system with a minimum dose of 70 MJ/cm2
SECTION D
Oxygenation System and monitoring. In this section occur oxygen measurement and its addendum if necessary. Also controls the temperature of water before inserting it into the fish tanks.
