Located in Curtice, Ohio, east of Toledo, The George F. Ackerman Company is very unique to the equipment industry. In addition to selling tomato harvesters, sprayers, irrigation equipment, specialized farm equipment, replacement parts and center pivots to the agricultural customer, the company sells new and pre-owned commercial lawn and residential equipment.

The business was started in 1939 by the Ackerman family and continues to be family owned and operated. George Ackerman, the father, is still active in the firm, serving as Chairman. His son, Mark Ackerman, is the company President; son Kurt, farms several hundred acres as well as handling sales and delivery of agricultural equipment, while son Glen manages customer service for the turf division. The business was originally located on Bury Rd. in Oregon, Ohio, but moved to its current location in 1980.

ACKERMAN INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT, INC.

In January, 1989, Ackerman Industrial Equipment began operations after Mr. George F. Ackerman purchased the former Atlas Industrial Equipment Company of Gibsonburg, Ohio. The newly formed company was only the second dealership to distribute Nissan Forklifts in the Toledo area since 1971.

The business was moved from Gibsonburg to Oregon, Ohio, to the former site of the George F. Ackerman Company. There, it operated until November, 1993, at which time the business moved to its present location at 300 Mill St. in Curtice, Ohio, where both Ackerman Companies now share the same physical address.

George’s oldest son, Paul Ackerman, has served as company President and became sole shareholder in January, 2006. Paul currently serves as President of the Ohio Equipment Dealers Association, and held the position of OEDA’s vice-president in 2007.
