Bath Treatments Services
Quickly removing parasites and leaving minimal residue behind. With the award-winning Paramove® bath treatment, Aqua Pharma brings a potent and registered therapeutic for the control of marine ectoparasites at salmon farms. The main benefit of our bath concept is that it quickly removes the parasites while also killing the eggs of gravid females, leaving no residue in the fish itself. The therapeutic is registered as a veterinary medicine, meaning its use is recorded and monitored. The concept is suited for both in-pen tarpaulin treatments and well boats.
The cornerstone of the Paramove® bath treatment is a substance called hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), also known as oxygenated water. This substance is known to decompose into water and oxygen. It is naturally present in rainwater, fresh fruit and the human body. It can be used as a cleaning agent or a disinfectant, as well as to remove sea lice and amoebic parasites on salmon and other species.
Thanks to it’s low toxicity and minimal persistence in the environment, the Paramove® bath treatment has been awarded the World Alliance Efficient Solutions label by The Solar Impulse Foundation. It’s for these same benefits that the Global Salmon Initiative refers to hydrogen peroxides treatments as alternatives to standard medicinal treatments.
The Aquaculture industry has a great responsibility to increase transparency and to reassure consumers that the fish we eat are sustainably farmed according to the highest welfare standards.
For Aqua Pharma, fish welfare is at the heart of everything we do. Hydrogen peroxide treatments are not only environmentally friendly, they are also among the gentlest disease management options available. The concept is effective on sea lice (Lepeophtheirus sp. and Caligus sp.), amoebic gill disease (AGD) and other fish health issues.
Our researchers are developing enhancement technologies for our bath concept to reduce impact even further. We want to and need to be innovative to contribute to a growing, responsible aquaculture industry,
Aqua Pharma is part of a wider eco-system. Since 2019, we are jointly owned by global materials and solutions company Solvay and Food Safety expert Aquatiq. Our supply chain model is fully integrated globally and provides full traceability from the manufacturing plant to the point of use. We have built up strong partnerships with shipping companies and salmon farmers in the main salmon producing countries. Apart from the registered delousing therapeutic, our integrated approach includes a range of dosing systems and a calibration technology for safe, effective treatment.
