Based in the East Riding of Yorkshire, Clugston Distribution Services operate a fleet of tank vehicles dedicated to the movement of bulk food ingredients. Our specialised vehicles serve large manufacturers and processors of food products throughout the UK, and our services include silo evacuation (vacuum tanks) to assist our clients in dealing with mechanical failure or product contamination issues.The bulk food fleet works as a specialised operation, managed by staff with the pertinent qualifications required by the food industry. It has its own Operating Centre, quality procedures and management control, to maintain the stringent standards of hygiene demanded by the food industry.
Punctuality and standard of service are of paramount importance with “just in time” deliveries to numerous manufacturing units being a core requirement of this business sector. Clugston achieves this through Vendor Managed Inventories (VMI) at a centralised operations facility that can remotely monitor silos around the UK, and coordinate deliveries using real time information from the vehicle satellite tracking data.
Examples of products currently handled include: flour, gluten, bran, rice, rusk, salt, sugar and starch.
