Forestry and land use offers one of the largest and cost-effective ways to reduce emissions in the short term. These sectors account emit about 25% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions, mostly from conversion and degradation of tropical forests. Reducing these will be critical to any international climate agreement that stabilizes the climate and enables developing countries to adapt to more extreme weather in the future.

Climate Focus is one of the few firms with international legal, policy and technical expertise in REDD+ and agriculture to advance projects and policies that curb climate change through sustainable land-use practices and conservation. We possess on-the-ground experience in every major tropical region, as well as unique experience and understanding of the legal, regulatory, and policy issues surrounding the design and implementation of successful forest, agriculture and land use initiatives. From analysis of climate legislation to rigorous economic and policy modeling, Climate Focus is at the forefront of policy design and analysis worldwide.

Climate Focus assists private and public entities in each phase of designing programs and implementing projects supported by carbon or other sources of climate finance. Our project design and implementation expertise spans includes Latin America, Africa, Asia, Europe and North America including work with private firms and governments. In policy, Climate Focus’ participation has been central to many of the most innovative ideas and policies in the field.
