The DPR would provide inputs on the technology and design engineering to be carried out on the chosen technology option and other details and broad specifications for the major components of the project. Based on these specifications, IWL prepares detailed tender documents for the procurement of EPC contractors for the project. IL&FS Water does not do EPC work. Usually the bulk of the cost of a project is absorbed by the EPC component (60 to 70%). In order to obtain the most efficient pricing for this component, IWL will always competitively bid out this segment of the project. Thereby obtaining a competitively and transparently revealed best price for the project.
