DISTek ISOBUS VT Anywhere - Graphical User Interface Software

One of the applications for ISOBUS is the Virtual Terminal (VT) which provides a graphical user interface in the vehicle cab and allows an operator to view and control various implement parameters. VT Anywhere is a universal terminal application and is the newest member of our ISOBUS product portfolio.  While several options exist to target different operating systems and CPU architectures, VT Anywhere utilizes modern web technologies to allow for more broad accessibility. It involves two primary components:  1) a compiled module which implements the back-end logic for the VT Server function, and 2) a JavaScript module which implements the graphical user interface of the VT Server function. Focusing on web technologies and using this split architecture has allowed for successful deployment on a wide variety of systems. For more information, read our blog post on VT Anywhere.

DISTek`s VT Anywhere was created with portability and testability as primary design goals. As a result, the Virtual Terminal can be embedded inside existing applications or used as a stand-alone VT.

VT Anywhere is a cross platform application, and it has been tested on Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux. It runs on x86 or ARM Cortex-A8 processors without modification.

To run on an embedded Linux target, VT Anywhere requires the following:

  • Web browser if running UI locally, i.e. Chrome or Firefox
  • Internet connection if running UI remotely
  • SocketCAN interface
  • glibc based system
