The search and diagnostic analytics capabilities of TrendMiner can be used to find behaviors of interest. These behaviors can than be fingerprinted and used for monitoring purposes:
- Monitor that the process is performing in accordance with a specific fingerprint. For instance, detect whether a batch process starts deviating from the golden batch envelope.
- Detect when process or asset behavior matches a fingerprint of anomalous behavior.
Fingerprints can be created for batch processes, grades and continuous processes.
With TrendMiner, events can be captured and labelled automatically, based on monitoring alerts for saved search patterns, fingerprints or rules. This way, your knowledge base is continuously being enriched, and results from previous analysis can be leveraged for reporting and future diagnostics purposes. Furthermore, novice users can learn from others’ past process experience.
Selected alerts can also be placed on a dashboard for panel operators in the control room, so they can intervene early and avoid abnormal situations.
Often a range of displays with key variables are periodically inspected by the engineering staff to verify the health of key process units or equipment. For instance, a periodic inspection may reveal the degree of heat exchanger fouling and trigger a maintenance action.
