Sprinkler spray sprinklers are an excellent option for smaller applications, such as residential landscapes. Unless otherwise specified, nozzles are sold separately from the spray body. Drip irrigation is sometimes called trickle irrigation and involves dripping water onto the soil at very low rates (2-20 litres/hour) from a system of small diameter plastic pipes fitted with outlets called emitters or drippers. Water is applied close to plants so that only part of the soil in which the roots grow is wetted (Figure 60), unlike surface and sprinkler irrigation, which involves wetting the whole soil profile. With drip irrigation water, applications are more frequent (usually every 1-3 days) than with other methods and this provides a very favourable high moisture level in the soil in which plants can flourish.

Linear irrigation machines travel back and forth across your field instead of around a central point as a center pivot does. A linear can move in a straight line, in forward or reverse. Their mobility makes linears one of the most efficient for ms of farm irrigation, typically irrigating 92 to 98 percent of a square or rectangular field. Linears can also assist with chemigation, fertigation, and germination, and can help decrease leaching that can occur through other irrigation methods.
