Biofuels

Ethanol:
  • Algenol enhances a natural ability found in many strains of cyanobacteria to produce ethanol.
  • Our proprietary Vapor Compression Steam Stripping unit (VCSS) is an energy-efficient technology that purifies the ethanol, as a first step in the downstream processing, followed by standard distillation techniques.
Green Crude
  • Algenol enhances its algae to produce high quantities of biomass efficiently.
  • We process the algae using Hydrothermal Liquefaction (HTL) technology to make green crude oil.

  • US Department of Energy 2016 Algal Biomass Grant ($5 million)
  • PLATTS 2015 Breakthrough Solution of the Year
  • 2015 Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award
  • Participant in 2015 US Presidential Trade Mission to China
  • PLATTS 2014 Global Industry Leadership Award for Biofuels
  • 2013 Florida Governor’s Innovators in Business Award

Our research & development and commercialization efforts in the United States and Europe benefit from a distinguished and varied array of collaborative partnerships with blue-chip corporations, top academic institutions and leading experts with industrial biotechnology backgrounds. We have also enjoyed financial support from both the U.S. Department of Energy and Lee County, Florida receiving grants utilized for building and expanding our integrated development capabilities in Fort Myers, Florida. Working with our partners, Algenol is Harnessing the Sun to Fuel the World®.
