CAP was started in 2015 by W. Chad Nunnery, former executive of a large US composites leader. After learning of the desire for advanced composite utility cover solutions - Made in America rather than molded overseas and stamped with an American sounding brand- CAP was formed in McAllen, Texas. CAP uses high tonnage compression presses for the best blend of quality and affordability. Unlike RIM/RTM or SMC composites, CAP`s proprietary compression molding process and formulation use a unique composite substrate that combines continuous/long fibers and short fibers. This proprietary innovation gives traffic-load strengths AND surface strength. Compression molding greatly reduces the likelihood of entrapped gas, delaminated glass layers, ensures a complete cure and fully resin-impregnated fiberglass. Many post-processes can be eliminated, and the added surface integrity from the small fibers allows higher more pronounced details (tread, text, graphics).
