Cosmo specialises in manufacturing fertiliser spreaders, sand/salt spreaders and cement mixers. Founded in 1986 our original focus was small agricultural implements like wood cutters, bio-choppers and V rakes. However, after a short period we determined that a sole focus on spreaders would create more opportunities. Cosmo decreased production in the small implements and by 1992 Cosmo had a range of spreaders (fertiliser, sand, salt, etc.) to satisfy a wide variety of customers’ demands. Our product range continued to grow and today we offer a range of trailed and linkage spreaders from 70L (S70) to 8000L (NT Series) which thanks to modern construction technologies, means Cosmo produces around 25,000 units (per annum) in our own facilities at globally competitive pricing. Next time you are in the market for a spreader make sure you demand the best – make sure it’s a Cosmo.
All components are manufactured in Cosmo facilities, such as the hopper without welding points and the multi-component gear box for all spreaders.
New technologies and researches allow to develop the patterns by testing the products in Test Halls of European Universities or in Cosmo test-fields.
Shear Spinning Process
Cosmo is the unique company able to manufacture the hoppers with shear spinning system through two high performing machineries. The final result is a steel or stainless steel hopper without welding, this allows the product to prevent rust because there are no welded points.
Laser cutting, bending, robotic welding system
Cosmo manufactures all parts and equipment in its own plants, i.e. hoppers, frames and components.
Thanks to its high-performance laser cutting and tube bending Cosmo follows the whole production process individually.
Tube Bending process
Pipes and tubes are bent in Cosmo plants through a modern tube bending machine that allows high quality and precision in assembling.
Multiple metal gear box is made of high quality bearings and Z 17 gears.
This power transmission system has been adopted on all spreaders, also for double disc machines, where the required ratio transmission is more complex.
Its reliability made it one of the Cosmo pilot product.
A feather in the cap of Cosmo are the Assembling and Painting phases.
Cosmo new painting system updated in 2010 allows a special pre-treatment consisting of degreasing, phosphate and passivation processes.
Spreaders are painted before assembling them. Epoxy primer dip and a two-packs polyurethane waterborne coating applied by a robotized and computerized system. Last operation is to bake them at 90° Celsius.
Several salt fog tests have achieved results from 450 to 500 hours of corrosion resistance.
Cosmo Ltd. is specialized in manufacturing fertilizer spreaders, winter road salt spreaders and cement mixers. The company was set up in 1987 as a small factory starting to manufacture agricultural equipment, such as wood cutters, bioshredders and tedders.
Once we understood the importance to be specialized in a particular field to reach excellent quality/price ratio, we gave up the production of other machineries little by little in order to improve the spreaders manufacturing.
Since 1992 new models were being added to extend the whole range, from the new COSmini with 50 lt to the pull-type NT model of 8000 kg.
This way Cosmo became the biggest manufacturer in the world with more than 25000 units per year. Modern technologies and the local production, as the hopper and the gear box allow Cosmo to get competitive and to be present on all world markets.
