Our little town, Breganze, is in the heart of the Northeast in the province of Vicenza: a zone where, over time, the synergy between farming, building and engineering has created a tradition with a entrepreneurial vocation in the service of technical progress in every production environment.
A wealth of culture and solidarity that makes the difference: thanks specifically to the synergies deeply rooted in the community we belong to, in fact, we have been able to emerge to the point of excelling on the international stage, confirming for the world the unique value of products that are exclusively “Made in Italy” and “Made in Veneto”.
History
The evolution is imprinted on the dna of Faresin brand.
Non-stop evolution oriented on the developement of the new products, redefinition of the strategies and of the corporate structure based on the changing market requierements. An exciting route where we go through its most significant stages, and looking forward to write the new ones.
Camillo Faresin, originally from Maragnole di Breganze (VI), was born in 1914 and passed away in Guiratinga (Mato Grosso - Brazil) in 2003. He spent sixty years of his life as a missionary there, devoting his life to the poor and the disadvantaged. He is buried in Guiratinga.
He was still a student at the University of Rome from 1940 to 1945 and during this period he helped save many Jews, hiding them and falsifying baptism certificates. For this purpose, in 1989, the Jewish community of Belo Horizonte awarded him the Menorah, to thank him for his actions and putting his own life at risk.
The town of Guiratinga has dedicated him a bronze bust at the entrance, and remembers him for the significant and numerous initiatives he carried out for the people. Don Camillo's first commitment was the evangelisation of the immense and desolate Diocese. He used a motor boat to travel along the majestic rivers, and a jeep or truck for the rugged trails of dust and mud, often interrupted by steep rocks or cut-down trees, makeshift bridges with unsteady beams, called 'mataburros' or 'donkey-killers'.
In over forty years as a missionary, the priest, originally from Maragnole di Breganze, also helped create many works: schools, the Oratory, Luis Orione College, Churches, the Cathedral, Gaetana Sterni Retirement Home, homes for doctors and workers, besides other numerous initiatives, desired and fulfilled over the years, with constant dedication and loving devotion.
Today, a few years since his death, the Guiratinga people still think of Monsignor Camillo as the representation of goodness. Osires De Olivera Martins, a doctor who works in the Santa Maria Bertilla Hospital, attests: 'Don Camillo was a strong man. Strong in spirit, in who the poor found meekness, generosity and the desire to help. In his inner self was a gentle and compassionate soul and an infinite variety of the most beautiful and pure emotions always vibrated in his heart'.
The Foundation
The Mons. Camillo Faresin Onlus Foundation, founded in January 2004, is apolitical, a non-profit organisation and no member can be remunerated for the work carried out on behalf of the Foundation. It exclusively pursues charitable purposes in respect of the disadvantaged in Italy and overseas, restricted to humanitarian aid in the following areas:
- social and health-care assistance;
- health-care;
- promoting initiatives, work conditions and opportunities that favour social and economic growth.
The Foundation aims to mainly help the Guiratinga community, in Mato Grosso, Brazil, where Mons. Camillo and Don Santo Faresin dedicated their lives as Salesian Missionaries. The Board of Directors of the Foundation has direct contact with the Guiratinga Diocese via the presence of the Suore della Divina Volontà (Sisters of the Divine Will) in Bassano del Grappa and the Bishop of Guiratinga. Thanks to these people, a Committee has been appointed in Guiratinga in order to propose projects that represent the real needs of the community. The projects of the Mons.
Camillo Faresin Onlus Foundation include:
- support for the Seminarians of the Guiratinga Diocese;
- support for courses to teach and train the youths of the Diocese;
- support for women's crafts;
- support for the Gaetana Sterni Retirement Home and the elderly;
- support for families in need, via the funding of 'Ceste Basiche' (Basic Baskets) that contain bare necessities.
