- To partner with agriculture organizations and producers to develop and apply innovative ideas and management practices to advance production agriculture.
- To create an environment that promotes an efficient, interactive exchange of ideas and unbiased, scientifically sound information between agricultural stakeholders.
- To identify and encourage capitalization of agri-environmental stewardship opportunities into production agriculture
Farming Smarter is the amalgamation of the Southern Applied Research Association (SARA, est. 1993) and the Southern Alberta Conservation Association (SACA est. 1990).
Our primary focus is applied research that helps southern Alberta crop producers make informed choices around inputs, technology and management practices for their operations. The goal is to sustain our land, water, soil and farmers for the benefit of everyone.
Our secondary focus is making sure southern Alberta crop producers know about the options open to them through every means possible. This website, public events, printed and digital media products all contribute to our extension efforts.
