History
The 10 of May 1917 opened in the lobby of the new North Station and the courtyard of the Imperial College of Children of San Vicente Ferrer the 1st Exhibition in Spain. The event hosted 148 trade stands with products such as furniture and other decorative items, cars, plants and equipment for the most varied industrial sectors. The entity that prompted the creation of the Valencia Exhibition was the Trade Union, whose president, José Grollo Chiarri, also assumed the presidency of the institution. So much so, that the activity of the Valencia exhibition company has only been broken in two periods: at 1921, with a motive of mourning decreed by the disasters of the Spanish army near the Moroccan town of Annual; and 1936 to 1942, year of reconstruction for the exhibition buildings of the Paseo de la Alameda, destroyed during the Civil War.
From 1917 to 1961, the International Exhibition of Valencia organizes annually a unique generic event of great international projection and unquestionable public success. In 1962, the institution expanded its range with the celebration, for the first time in Spain, a monographic exhibition to be devoted to the toy industry. In 1963 the Spanish Furniture, Wood and Wicker Exhibition will be held, first name and history of the current Feria Habitat Valencia.
During the decade of the 60 Feria Valencia experiences significant growth that will force you to find a new location capable of responding to the constant increase in demand for space by companies participating in its events.
A few years later, the Valencia City Council would solve the problem giving the land on which Feria Valencia is situated today. Indeed, at 1969 held in the new facilities of the Valencian village of Benimámet the VII Spanish Furniture Exhibition and Hall of Woodworking Machinery. From this moment the Feria Valencia calendar grows unabated necessitating successive enlargements of the fairground. New exhibitions will necessitate the gradual construction of new pavillions. This growth has resulted in the expansion phase of the fairgrounds developed between the year 2000 and 2006. The construction of five new pavillions and the Events Centre, a strategic installation in the new activity model launched by Feria Valencia, have put the full stop at the physical framework of the institution.
With all this, Feria Valencia organizes more than fifty exhibitions and trade events of different nature and has 200.000 m2 exhibition space equipped with the latest technology advances and modern pavilions and in all types of rooms suitable for the broad spectrum of business congress, apart from lobbies, access forums and gardens.
Feria Valencia has fulfilled, therefore, more than ninety-five years of service to the company and international trade. Almost a century of life that, as it could not be in any other way, has reflected the unstable economy, political and social changes that have marked the history of Spain in the last century.
