The independent approach has allowed us to look for machinery solutions around the world, we currently import and supply equipment and parts from USA, Canada, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Austria, France, Italy and China, as well as machinery built in the UK. Forest Machine Services is a sales and service company owned by Kenny Dobson and Stephen Wills, Kenny having been involved with forestry machines for 25 plus years and Stephen for the past 11. Established in August 2006 after relinquishing the successful Logset machinery dealership for Northern England and Scotland. We are based near Hexham in Northumberland close to the edge of Kielder forest and within easy reach of other large forest areas. When the decision was taken to start the new company rather than taking employment with one of the established machinery dealers we realised that it was the more difficult option.

We realised on start up that we needed products to sell and to rely solely on service work would be short lived as people were buying new modern machines.

The question was asked by a customer “why would I buy from yourselves instead of from one of the big suppliers” a simple but mind focusing statement.

To be able to answer that question we looked at what customers expect from both ourselves as suppliers and the products offered :

  • Knowledge of what the customer is asking of the machine.
  • Knowledge and resources to support the machine
  • The individual personal service that is required
  • The realisation that every machine matters

Being independent from a single manufacturer allows us to select which machines we sell and promote.
Always ensuring the support from the manufacturer is ongoing

The independent approach has allowed us to look for machinery solutions around the world, we currently  import and supply equipment and parts from  USA, Canada, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Austria, France, Italy and  China,  as well as machinery built in the UK.
