GFI - 3-Ply Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) Access Mats
SiteSafe CLT Access Mats are an industry-leading alternative to traditional bolted mats, providing incredible savings and several other benefits.
GFI - 7-Ply Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) Access Mats
8′ wide x 14′ or 16′ long. Used as an alternative to crane mats or steel-framed rig mats as they are designed to handle exceptionally heavy equipment such as rigs and cranes.
Access Mats
GFI - Traditional Bolted Access Mats
Access mats are used to create temporary roadways to navigate unstable terrain and access remote worksites. They can be stacked together to build right of ways (e.g. for pipelines or electrical right of ways), temporary roadways, temporary staging yards, drilling pads and much more. The typical size of an access mat is 8’X14’x5″ but can be custom-built to suit the requirements of any project.
Rig Mats
GFI - Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) Rig Mat
Rig mats are different than access mats and are manufactured using a 3-rail or 4-rail steel frame configuration with cross beams and wooden inserts. This design allows rig mat users to transfer and set heavier loads and machinery. Traditional 3-ply bolted wooden access mats don’t have the strength or durability that rig mats have, which makes them inadequate for heavy-duty applications. Due to traditional mats’ inability to withstand the pressure of heavy equipment, if you opt to use a traditional access mat instead of a rig mat, you may be putting your crew and machinery at risk . At GFI Solutions, we offer a range of access solutions, including traditional rig mats and SiteSafe™ 500 and 700 Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) rig mats.

Crane Mat
GFI - Crane Mat
Crane Mat is a generic term used to describe a heavy equipment mat made up of large timbers. The timbers within a crane mat have a common thickness, are green in moisture content, and are generally not graded for quality or strength. Typical sizes are 8” to 12” thick, 4′ wide, and 16′ to 40′ in length. Crane mats are used to provide ground protection against the heavy weight of cranes and other large machinery. While traditional wooden access mats may withstand significant loads, crane mats are designed to support much heavier machinery. So when your project requires heavy machinery, it’s best to trust the access solutions designed to withstand the pressure.
