80 years ago developed the father of today`s owner Mr. Franz Grimme the first potato harvesters. That was the beginning of the Grimme Landmaschinenfabrik in Damme. In the course of the years, the company developed into the complete supplier for potato, beet and vegetable technology. The well-known red machines work in over 120 countries worldwide.
To the Grimme group belong the Grimme Landmaschinenfabrik located in Damme (plant 1) and Rieste (plant 2), the Northern American Potato Machinery manufacturer Spudnik (Blackfoot / Idaho), the beet machinery manufacturer Kleine (Salzkotten / North Rhine-Westphalia) and the Danish vegetable machinery manufacturer ASA-Lift (Sorø). With more than 150 various machine types for the potato, beet and vegetable technology offers the Grimme group the widest and most extensive product range in this segment.
The machines sold in over 120 countries from local dealers. Grimme has its own subsidiaries and service agencies in their target markets Belgium, China, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia,Turkey and U.S.A.
To the Grimme group belong also two companies located in Damme, Internorm (plastics engineering) and Ricon (sales company for root crop parts).
Over 2,200 employees (excl. seasonal workers) work for the Grimme group around the world, 1,450 of those working in Damme (plant 1) and Rieste (plant 2). Also 124 young people are trained in various technical and commercial professions in Damme.

The Grimme machines are produced at two high modern manufacturing locations. All machines except self-propelled harvesters build in the headquarter in Damme (plant 1). Self-propelled harvester production takes place in the Industrial Area 'Niedersachsenpark', 12 km away from Damme. In 2012 Grimme build a production hall for web production and one for self-propelled harvesters (plant 2) on a 24 hectares large area.
Also located at the headquarter is the metal sheet processing (laser cutting and bending), shaft production, painting as well as the pre-assembling and final assembling. The ultramodern logistic centre is based on a fully automated high-bay warehouse-system, which supplies the assembly with all the required parts 'just-in-time'. On an area of 15 ha there is also a research and development department, the enterprise administration and an own training centre located.In 2000 Grimme built up an exhibition center for presentation and training of machines, called Technicom.
Over 1,450 employees work in plant 1 and 2. The company trains over 124 young people in various technical and commercial professions.
