HoliSoils

HoliSoils focuses on holistic management practices, modeling, and monitoring for European forest soils. The project addresses critical knowledge gaps in forest soil processes and aims to harmonize available soil monitoring data. This supports informed decision-making related to climate action and sustainability objectives. The initiative involves identifying and testing innovative soil management practices to mitigate climate change while maintaining various ecosystem services vital for human well-being. HoliSoils leverages extensive soil data from across Europe, providing insights into vulnerability, resilience, and soil properties. It utilizes research models and tools to aid stakeholders and scientists in understanding environmental and anthropogenic impacts on forest soils. Open access maps offer valuable data for scientists, modelers, ecologists, and foresters. Additionally, guidelines and protocols are developed for experts in LULUCF, forest managers, and monitoring networks to ensure sustainable and effective forest soil management.
