Hybrimin GmbH & Co. KG
HYBRIMIN was founded in 1979 by the agricultural engineer Manfred Gabriel. Previously, he was responsible for ration design, premix calculation and compound feed production at various companies. This wealth of experience influenced the development of the software right from the start. The name HYBRIMIN comes from HYBRIdsauen-MINeral (mineral feed for HYBRID sows). In the early years, HYBRIMIN also had its own mineral feed produced and marketed it under the name HYBRIMIN. HYBRIMIN is a feed formulation software solutions & service provider that supports the animal feed industry with advanced technology solutions. Built around an extensive animal nutrition database, our system has built-in flexibility to accommodate any specific nutritional requirements, a gentle learning curve and an extensive support program. Different feed calculation models used worldwide can be integrated, provided the licenses for this are available.

1979
Agricultural engineer Manfred Gabriel has been working in the animal nutrition industry for a long time. He uses his many years of experience and his knowledge of premix manufacturing to create software and establishes the firm HYBRIMIN® Futterspezialitäten GmbH, to sell feed and animal nutrition products. The name HYBRIMIN® comes from HYBRIdsauen-MINeral(Hybrid sow-mineral). Next comes the production and marketing of mineral feed.
Why Use HYBRIMIN Software?
Nowadays, an internet search will bring up many feed software options. Most use Excel tables. This solution is basically okay, provided one has a good knowledge of Excel and only wants to calculate a few rations or mixes per year. If this is the case, then it is not worth buying professional feed software. The major problem is often the very idiosyncratic structure of the Excel tables, which makes work and achieving fast results difficult.
If daily recipes need calculating or optimising, then it is worth considering the purchase of professional feed software. It is a waste of time to try to program a good feed software oneself. The effort involved is always underestimated and the problem is always in the detail (HYBRIMIN® feed software contains several million source codes!). (Who builds their own tractor nowadays?)
There are differences in how up-to-date commercially available programs are. Once the software has been created, it often remains on offer and unchanged 10 years later. The science of animal nutrition, however, does not stand still but is constantly undergoing change. If you wish to work as a professional in this field, it makes sense to choose a manufacturer that concentrates its activity in this field and does not make all sorts of other software products. There should also be regular updates.
Once one has decided that one needs to make many calculations on a regular basis, then the choice of a good feed software should be based on whether one needs to be an IT expert to use it, or whether the feed software is so easy to use that one can concentrate on animal nutrition and feed calculations. The available options differ greatly as to learning curve and technical simplicity.
A History of Feed Calculation
This section describes German attitudes to the development of animal nutrition and feed calculation. This section is not chronologically complete, but is expanded from time to time. If you have any feedback on this, please contact us. We are grateful for any information on calculation methods or tools used (e.g. slide rule, computer, etc).

Own Database
Many feed calculation software manufacturers do not have their own database. Therefore, a user must have a lot of experience in creating one.
In years of work, with extensive know-how, data from a wide variety of sources has been entered into HYBRIMIN®‘s own database and kept up to date.
